Hi all need to pick your brains!
I work long hours (mostly 13 hour days) and although i get up at half 5 to get the horses done it is hard! On these days i obviously can't ride them and wondered if i could find someone who would? They could hack them and do as much dressage as they wanted (poss even some comps and using my lorry) but NO jumping. My horses jump at a decent level and i just dont want anything messing it up so to speak!
They could have them every other weekend and week days and would be happy for them to hack with me etc, just in return for some turning out, mucking them out and looking after them on the odd occassion i go away (about 4 times a year for 3 nights at a time!)??
Still undecided about it all
Any thoughs welcome
Thanks

It may take some time but I deffinatley think there are people out there that will be suited to your needs! I had a lovely lady share my horse for a few months and she had no interest in jumping atall and much prefered the dressage side. It took a while to find her but it is do able.

If I didn;t have my own I'd jump at the chance! You may struggle to find someone competant about (in my experience) though it is worth a try.

Thats a fantastic offer - I reckon you would get someone no worries. The only issue that I see is finding someone you can trust and finding someone who is competant.

Wish I lived over there cause I would do it for you!!!

I would prefer an adult as its a private yard and there would be no other people around so they would have to been compitant! Also would need to be a driver as its not close to any buses etc! I think im just worried about it going wrong or someone letting me down! Thanks for your ideas !!

yes I think so too - I found a lovely person through an ad who trained police horses but couldnt afford her own horse -she didnt pay me because she couldnt afford it -she just rode my horse and brought him on for me!

I think many people who would be interested. May also be worth asking people you know who have injured or retired horses if they would be interested in the ride. My horse is retired and I would certainly be interested if you were in West Lothian :-)

It may put some people off that they cannot jump, but perhaps mainly younger riders which may not be what you are looking for anyway. If that turns out to be a problem, perhaps you could consider letting them take jumping lessons once a week with your trainer.

For dressage too really, if you are fine without a financial contribution, the rider could spend the money on the trainer instead, which would benefit both them and potentially the horse.
