Hey , i took one of my new ones to smiths lawn this weekend , he went really well in the practise ring but as soon as he got in the ring he became full of energy , he came up to the first fence went to jump and stopped..?!? He has never done tyhis with me before. after he'd stopped he had jumped a perfect round but i just couldnt get mty head round it. This might soubnd cocky but i no it wasnt me because my other 2 went perfectly..!?
I then took him in the next class and he did great got into the jump off but 3 fences in he stopped again..? For no reson.

He hasnt been out competing since last year , do you think it was just to much for him to begin with..? As he does get a bit hypa active

We had it checked when we bought him last week. Its a bit odd.. Lol..! Thanks For The Advice xx

I think your right, sound like he just get distracted! My Jack is exactly the same, he'l jump perfectly at home or at 'normal' shows but take him to a county show where theres allot going on and we've got no chance! Last years Derbyshire show was a classic eg. he worked fine at home that morning before we left and wasnt to bad when I was working in at the show, we got into the ring, he saw all the people watching, heard a coouple of steam engine or motor bike type things and stopped at the first fence, twice! He just gets that worked up that its like he forgets to jump! He's best indoors where he cant see allot going on around him. I've got him on Nupafeed now to clam him down a bit, I'l let you know if it works after next week Cheshire show!

Thank you , i thinmk your right.. Your jack sounds just like my horse. That would be great if you could tell me how you get on with him and Nupafeed..!

Good Luck At Cheshire..! Mine ghoes better indoors aswell last year he won nearly ever class he went in indoors..! Very fustrating..! x

My sister's hrose did this to me when i jumped him for one of the first times when she was away. He jumps fab usually but he was so concerned where is mate was (neighing etc) he got to the first jump and stopped. Now he doesn't do stopping and I was kicking myself cos I should have realised he was just not concentrating at all! He jumped round clear afterwards. He has a tendency to let his brain wander though and it sounds like yours is doing something similar - ie, "This is all very exciting being out and about, but what's going on over there? oops, a fence!"

Just try make sure he's listening and you know he's 'switched on' to what he's doing!

If you only bought him last week then maybe he just needs a bit of time to settle in and get used to you??

My thoughts exactly.
