Compete a horse/pony for some body? As most of you know I'm in the prog of breaking my 16.3hh ISH and along way off competing him although he is very promising. I would rather like to get some experience if nothing else, not fussed what with or type of competing just start getting out there. We haven't yet got a lorry so couldn't offer transport unless was under 14'2hh and loaded in old style rear unload box. Riding wise I wouldn't like to decribe my self but I don't fall off

Its rachelsteff on here, maybe worth asking her about it, i know she rides for a few other people also....

I've got a youngster that is only 2 1/2 so am having the same problem that I am missing competing. I asked all the owners on my yard and have found a nice ex driving horse to school and do some dressage on. Just ask around at local yards etc. Lots of people like seeing their horses competed by someone else. Good Luck

Hey, like Lady Magoo said I've just started riding/competing her horsey, I've got 5 horses that I school and 3 of those that I compete. The best advice I can give is to ride anything you can, every horse you ride you'll learn so much from and that is what gives you experience to become an effective rider and actually be able to improve their way of going so don't turn anything down! Maybe the first ride you get you won't compete but the second or third one you will. Word of mouth is the best way so the more gee gees you are involved with the more opportunties you will get.

I always do ride every thing going, but non are suitable for competing. Because my own is young he will always be my first so really can only give up time to get to know each other, perfect schooling and compete. Thought of loaning but wouldn't be fair as wouldn't want full second horse long term. Might put a free-ad in friday-ad and a pin up in tack/fedd shops haven't got anything to loose.

Hmm, do any of the people you ride for know of anything that needs competing? I agree with Halfpass and find that owners often love to see their horses doing well so are happy for them to be competed by someone else so I'm sure you will find something soon

Of course it would, I have sharers who ride and compete if they want, no different really, I am pretty sure there would be someone out there who doesnt like leaving the ground but would like to see their horse compete. Go for it.
