Here goes ,,, i share my horses with a family member which we both have different ideas but we have fallen out for months now and so we dont talk but i have lesson and my instrutor is schooling the horses with me to but we have had horses all are life but the family member thinks just cos weve had horses she knows every thing.. she doesnt ride good at all meaning her position is crap her legs to forward her hands are all over the palce and it causes many argument as she has lots of bad habbits . it brakes my heart as i spend lots of money having them schooled and lessons
she wouldnt even know how to get the horse on the bit ....

im willing to learn every thing and gain lots more knoledge but she doesnt care because she thinks she knows it

How does the horse go for you?? If he still goes well for you then let her get on with it. If she is letting him get away with things and he is then making your life harder i think i would seriously start looking for a horse of my own!!

We had this situation dowm my old yard many moons ago and it ended up in tears

I think for two people to share a horse and not speak to each other, and then to try to do completely different things with it could be quite confusing to the animal. How do you sort out feeding regimes, worming, shoes?

However if you are schooling to compete, and your relative is happy to hack and not interested in competing, it may be less damaging, even if they ride completely differently, the horse will know which rider is on board.

Is there something wrong with having legs forward and relaxed hands? Oh dear...

I have been riding 17 years and went to hartpury when i left school but by no means do i think i know it all I have lessons always have and always will not just for me but to benifit the horse am riding sometimes you get bad habbits that you do not relise, imo you never stop learning I asked a novice for advice she only had a horse a year but unluckly it had navicular but she had reserched into it and vets out all the time giving her advice so i asked her a question as she knew more than me on that subject. Stick to your guns and carry on with the lessons

the horse goes very well as im bringing him back in too work as hes been off with back problems ect but i wont let her ride him but the other one (pony) that my daughter rides goes well for her but is naughty for the family member

i am buying her out with the horse so that will be fine but i wish she would have lessons

the watcher

no her hands are in the air and when he bends (on the bit) she pulls his head up thank god she only rides the pony a few times a week as my daughter (10) rides about 5 times a week as she has lessons

her legs (family member) are to far forward which means all the weight his wrong in the saddle she hasnt got her legs wrapped round him if you know what i mean

Unfortunatly some people cant be told and you cant make them do something that they dont want to do so i think until you buy her out your just gonna have to grin and bear it.

Even though I've been riding for about 20 years (wow I felt old there!) I had a break from lessons for about 3 years and was a happy hacker.

When I started having lessons again I realised just how sloppy my riding had become and it's taken a while to get back into it again.
I will never stop having lessons now, even if it's just one every month or so!

oh she does mornings i do afternoons

shoes .. i pay for the horse as her farrier is crap but thats another story and the pony we pay half of every thing ie pony has a bank account in my name so she pays into that

but i pay out for thr horse ie supplements food ect ... phiso.. instrutor.. shoes,,,

yea ..... BAD

the funny thing is he bucks with the family member and the pony is 6 years old but when my daughter rides him he is so good and she rides him on the bit so all the schooling and lessons are paying off
