Are you serious? That's meat money! Your price is IMO fine but better pictures will catch the one person that you need's eye.

Good luck

are you all serious near on a grand for a unbroken youngster ?
and clearly not one call in 3 weeks of advertising speaks for itself.
good luck

I'm a newbie here, so could be talking a load of old toffee - but any cheaper and I think you could get the wrong type of buyer.

Surely someone wanting to bring a horse on and knowing what they are doing will see the potential in the untrained horse???

If you haven't had any interest perhaps it really is just the wrong time of year for this type of project?

I viewed a horse today that had had no interest for 2 months - to be honest I had over looked it because it was too cheap - today people were queuing up for her -

I think he is a gorgeous cuddly looking fella and hope he gets a lovely home.

With those pictures yes he is too much- a good pic can add value and it doesnt sell him well tbh. He's three and you have said he's backed/lightly driven- where's the evidence?

You dont need hardstanding to show off a horse just take the time and effort to make him presentable- at this time of year horses are selling for pittance- in the sales last week cobs like that were selling for £300-£600 so in some respects he is over priced. Projects dont sell well now- your better off waiting till clock change and you're more likely to sell. Or get hime going well and bbroken properly. He's child sized so needs to be ready to carry a child- so school him on- then add a couple of hundred on his price in spring

Hi thanks for hints i have my jockey coming tomorrow so will get her to tack him up and sit on him. Will also get some nice pictures showing off his conformation ect. Unfortunatley i havent got a regular jockey to school him on for the spring and im trying to cut back slightly due to being 7 and a half months pregnant! Unfortunatley i have no pictures of him being driven and no longer have cart/harness.

WW £995 is in no way too much for a pony that is going to make about 14.hh. He is also not unbroken, but lightly backed.
I wouldnt be reducing the price, but as already mentioned get some GOOD pictures of him both inhand, and ridden to give a potential purchaser an idea of his movement.

Crikey, the youngster I posted pictures of is only 18 months, and although not for sale, I have a mental price in my head of £3k for her!! Admitedly shes a different type of horse, but if this cob is as sane and sensible as the advert reads, then he will be worth his weight in gold for someone!!

Reducing the price isn't the way forwards, showing what he REALLY is, is most definatly the right way to go.

In my opinion this pony is overpriced because its probably just come from the sales anyway- and what the seller knows about him is little more than what was in the sale catalogue. She's advertised as a private seller but is well known in Essex as a dealer and usually has horses and ponies in weekly. So I too would want some sort of evidence to show for that statements made in the advert. I would also definately want to know if the horse was wormed and vaccinated etc etc. Horses in this area both in the sales rings and in private sales are cery cheap at the moment- the ones going through at Attridges have had cobs with full papers going through for about £200

Sounds like half the work is done with him I would hang until april may time people dont want youngsters over xmas. (except me!) if you were closer i would be interested

Interesting just how MANY horses are advertised with this phone number. And one included an e-mail address - dbard@****** Some of you will remember HHO member dbard - or one particularly mammoth thread!!

The OP is undoubtedly a dealer of sorts - and is using this thread (as dbard used to) to publicise one of her offerings. And it IS overpriced because it's not yet 3, already ridden and driven a bit, looks wormy - and was probably bought recently at a sale for no more than about £300.

Finally the truth is out! I knew she was a dealer- see my response to her other thread- but to find out she is also dbard that is worrying as she has horses coming and going all the time off her yard in Essex!

Yes, far too much!! You can buy a horse like that for a third that price at the sales.

Ok my opinion for what it's worth is that the pony is obviously not a fantastic stamp (sorry, my opinion) and does look like it's been brought straight from the sales and stuck on the internet for sale!

If he was clipped, pulled and looking presentable you'd probably attract a bit more money for him.

If he's papered then that's different but gipsy cobs don't make as much money........not in my neck of the woods anyway!

The advert is mis-leading.
You put two sets of height measurements- 1 saying he is measuring at 13.3hh to make 14.1hh, the next saying he is at 14hh to make 14.2hh. I know it says updated- but get rid of the old info too
smile.gif

Also the ad title states 3 y-o, actual ad says rising 3 year old.
