Throughout my 20years of riding I've only had that special bond with 3 horses!! One of my current ones being that extra special.

All 3 of these horses found me!! 2 were at my yard and were offered to me, the other I had a note on the yard gate offering her to me.

All the other horses I have been out and actually searched for that ticked all the boxes I never felt that with them. Was fond of them all but never had that bond.

So do you think the special ones find you?

Yep definately I wos contacted by someone on here, bought him even tho he hadn't done anything as had been on box rest 7 weeks owner hadn't wanted him and left him to the yard... He has turned out to be the most amazing horse he is everything I want and more, never put a hoof wrong, we have a special bond and I think I would struggle to find another like him.
So glad I Gave him a chance :-)

I think so. I went through a really bad time with my last horse and when I decided to sell her I really thought I would never buy another horse. The day I decided to send her to a dealer because I just felt I couldn't cope with any more from her (my friend bought her in the end so I didn't have to) my yard manager saw Max available for loan on Facebook.

She was the first one to call, he was literally 10 minutes up the road from our yard so we went along to see him the next day. When we got there his owner rode him, then I got on rode him, jumped him and then took him for a little hack which was amazing as I was terrified of hacking after a near fatal accident. We went back and I hacked him in company, a week later he came to my yard.

5 months later I now own Max and I have already achieved my dreams of doing a pleasure ride, jump cross and last week we did our first showjumping competition and won.

He truly is a horse in a million for me and he has single hoofedly rekindled my love of riding :)

No. I dont think it matters whether youve gone looking for a horse or not, you either develop a bond with a horse or you dont.

Of the 4 horses I,ve owned in the last 20 years I can honestly say that Ive had a bond with all of them. But I guess if there has to be one that's made me feel almost spiritually connect, it has to be my current mare Tictac. I guess we have that ' girlie' friendship that you have with a good female friend. Sounds daft, but that's how I can explain it!

I think mysti found me as it was just so spooky, finally decided my mare needed a companion and that afternoon went to the feed shop I don't normally go to. Looked at the notice board and she was there, free to a good home and ticking all the boxes :)
I love her to pieces but I honestly don't think anyone else would put up with her!!

Yes! I've bonded this way to a few horses but only owned one (my current lad). The others were horses in the riding school and one, Casey RIP, her owner offered me to take her out after having a horse I really didn't click with on loan. With zero confidence she was just perfect even though she was a 15.3hh thoroughbred! We did everything and I still miss her.

Others were Stella (15.3hh chestnut thoroughbred mare) and Kizzy (14hh bay/appaloosa pony type)

Buster wasn't what I was looking for at all but I heard of him via my riding instructor. At 15 he was much older than I was looking tbh but as soon as I hopped on him I just KNEW he was 'the one'. So soppy and cheesey but so true.

Five years on we're closer than ever :)

I have totally fallen for a little chestnut filly called Ruby recently also and have been offered her although finances atm are tight. She's a darling and hope perhaps to take her on in the future :D

So that's five :)

Lovely post- was nice to remember the girls. It's strange I ended up with a gelding!

I bought Moja my second horse back in march 2011, found her through a friend. I've had horses from a very early age but I have never bonded with a horse as much I did Moja. She was everything I wanted in a horse and we were best friends, sadly she had various amounts of problems and had to be PTS a few weeks ago. I miss her terribly and feel like ive lost my soul mate. The thought of getting another makes me cringe, I honestly don't think ill ever find another Moja and bond with another like I did her, and for that reason, I'm trying to get out of horses. Maybe one day ill be ready to love another again!

for ten years i looked for a potential stallion, i wanted a little arab, some thoroughbred and some spanish blood, one day i looked in horse and hound and for sale was just that horse aged 1 year, so i sent someone to look and take photos, i bought him unseen, i can honestly say he has turned into mr wonderful, and he is the horse many, many people dream of owning, spectacular to ride, never hot, loves to work, he is unique, to me, and to top it all he has bred me the best youngster i have ever bred, i have never seen one like him for sale before or since and i really believe it was fated and feel very priviliged and lucky to have him, and have often pondered on how it all came about.
