Do you think these browbands look 'too much'?

I love things like this but when it comes to showing I would rather use a plain leather one as I think it looks smarter.

Nope they are fab! Showing, particularly of the plaited variety, is getting more and more bling by the year, with glittery hats for even performances and I have even witnessed a kind of cherry pink/red hat at quite ahigh level show!

Go for it, I am sure you won't be put down for a bit of sparkle!

Riding horse, hacks etc evening performance....that's when all the serious glitz and glam comes out!! Glitter powder puffs...anything to stand out under the lights!

Though some do go V.v.overboard!

they are lovely may have to look into getting on for myself at some point soon :D i have a plain crystal one which i love but its a bit scabby and there is nothing wrong with a bit of glamerous stuff in the horsey world

Oh Good Lord! My daughter would LOVE these.

Personally I wonder what they'll permit in the showring next, sparkly hooves, coloured breeches?

I will use the fact that I am ancient as an excuse for me not liking them at all, it is just getting a bit too much. What's being judged, the horse or the browband? All just a bit of harmless fun and glitter though, so each to their own.

Mind, English showing bling still has a LONG way to go to catch up on the western stuff!

Personally that amount of bling I'd only put on a show pony or hack, who are ultra blingy by nature of the class. Even that, I'd probably keep it for evening performances when things get even blingier!

Last weekend my daughter entered a "show horse" class at a local show - horse looked lovely, wearinga blue and silver browband. However, judge told her and the horse above her that he had had to put them down the line because "only hacks should wear coloured browbands". They couldn't believe it! The winner was wearing a plain browband! Not sure if it was that particular show's rules (was a Trailblazer qualifier).

Which show horse type supagran? If it was hunter type, then the plain browband was correct.

Enfys...I don't know!!! Was up till 1am googling it, it came out a few years back [in America obv lol!!]...I shall keep googling!!! :p

I shielded my eyes ready for the horror but to be honest I think they're quite nice! I went to a showing masterclass the other day...one moment please I'm fetching my browband rules sheet.......it says you should use a coloured ribbon browband for ridden arab, riding horse, hack, riding pony, first ridden and lead rein. No mention of bling but I would think it would depend on the judge as they are in the style of a ribbon browband. I wouldn't go for a plain bling browband.

I Love them, because these are the browbands that convinced my other half we NEEDED to buy a Show Hack because they come in Liverpool Football clubs new away kit colours haha

I love these browbands. I bought one from crystal browbands for my ex race horse (u can see it in my profile pic...kind of). It looks fantastic under the lights or even under sunlight. Can honestly say that ive never had a bad comment from a judge about it, and people always come over and comment on it in the collecting ring, asking where they can get one, how much ect ect. After years of showing M&Ms, hunters and coloureds, i must admit to enjoying having an excuse to use a bit of bling hehe!
Ps im new on here, so hi everybody xxx

LOL i actually have the stirrups and spurs, with red diamontes....but they were purely to go with a concour d'elegance outfit, they have never been used in a normal showing class lol xxx

WE do like our bling for western, this is madam's show halter - and it's quite restrained compared with some.

We did have a gorgeous saddle with silver and gold trim plus purple crystals and a purple suede seat, but sadly it didn't fit either of us (tho it fitted the horse!) We sold it to a teenager who absolutely adores it!

Crystals on the browband and cheekpieces of western bridles are a pretty common sight, but IMO you have to be young to get away with it!

they are gorgeous for things like show pony and lead rein but you wouldnt be allowed them for whp and hunter- it all depends on the class and also the judge; if you can find out anything about the judge before hand you can tailor your look to what he/she is known to like.

I think it depends on the horse.
A pretty face would be hidden by too much bling whereas the bling would take the eye away from a less pretty head.
They do stand out in evening performance.
Personally i think they should be only used for evening performance although these are quite nice.
There are many that are way over the top.

I think, when you look on websites, these browbands are photographed to look more blingier then they are ie under the lights and on a black background. After ordering mine, i started panicking and having second thoughts, the browband was red and gold with crystals and pearls. My boy has an outragously pretty head, and i started thinking i would spoil it with my browband. However when it arrived, i tried it on him and it looked fab. Once they are on a bridle on the horse, they are not quite as flashy as you would imagine xxx:)
