Do you think this email is spam?

I run a yard and got this email to the yard address yesterday, but given the bad grammar and spelling I'm not convinced that its genuine. Anyone else had anything similar, or any opinions on it? Thanks!!

It's just a variation on the 'I want to buy your horse - I send you a cheque for more than he costs (which bounces) and you send a cheque to my transporter (which they hope you do before THEIR cheque bounces!)"

If you respond in ANY way your e-mail goes on the 'gullible fools' e-mail list and is sold to thousands of other spam artists so they can try their scam on you!
 
The yard i keep my horse at got the very same email over the weekend,they ,perhaps foolishly answered the e mail and have had 3 responsives including address ,phone no etc from this guy and a very brief phone call,he sounded foriegn ,but decidingly iffy,he is supposed to be sending them a cheque for the livery and money to pay the shiipping agent ! I think they have sussed him out and are now playing him along .Watch this space ??
 
Thanks for the info, have deleted it. Nice to hear other people are getting it too. What do they hope to get out of these kind of emails, it's beyond me - how stupid do they think people are!!
 
BusyBee, can you keep us informed as to what happens. All sounds very dodgy, especially given that most yards addresses are on their websites!! Might be wise to inform the police or some kind of governing body just in case he turns nasty.
 
As soon as they mention 'shipping' I think 'dodgy' as you ship goods, not horses unless they're coming from abroad, and then you'd get loads more request for information about your yard, than just an 'I'm coming how much will it be?'

What they probably don't understand is that you're selling a service, not an item.

This type of email is either hoping you'll send them some goods before their dodgy cheque is cleared (or Western Union money transfer) or that they'll offer to send you several thousand quid more than the asking price and hope that you'll send the difference back to them.

Don't touch with a barge pole!
