Do you think this forum IS cliquey ??

I think AAD is very cliquey but they are in the most, very welcoming and have been helpful whenever I have posted in there.

PMSL!!!:D:D:D I never think of AAD as cliquey but more as a place were we are all slightly nuts and can take the mick out of each other and our mutts in a lighthearted and friendly way!;):D:D:D

Of course spangle owners ARE the biggest clique on here as we proved sometime ago.......:p;):D:D:D

See we are just proving the point now by all piling onto this thread and being.... well.... cliquey :p:D:D:D

Quirky I think you may well be right :D

I think it comes from shared insanity though :D so no-one need be disapointed if they are not in the clique, it just means you are normal :D:D:D

To be honest i have never had a problem always had lovely responses to any questions i have had, and have responded to posts where i can help or feel i really want to respond. I think the clickey thing is more of a thing of people with different experiences and opinions and people need to accept that to be able to have healthy debates. Although i do notice that some people find it neccesary to go way too personal on debates and this is where the issues start.

You see, all those of you who say you aren't in a clique, I would say you are the ones that I see as cliquey.
What I will also say, is that you seem to perceive it as some kind of insult .... it wasn't meant to be.
I also said in my original post, you were in the most part friendly and helpful to those who don't post in there often.

So, in the words of some scouse bloke whose name escapes me .... calm down, calm down :D:D

I'm not sure I would call it cliquey but there are definitely some very strong personalities, some I like and respect very much and some I dislike intensely (in a cyber way of course, from what they post and the way they write and how rude they can be). I do tend to stick up for the ones I like IF I agree with what they are saying or think that other posters are trying to bully, but if I disagree I tend to stay out of it. I think on the whole I tend to stay under the radar too.

LOL :D I think you are absolutely right on all counts - I wonder why it is perceived as being a negative something rather than a positive something? Glad we are an OK bunch though :):)

I guess that for me 'cliquey' conjures images of groups of people standing about b!tching about people behind their backs... and I don't want to be perceived like that!

Words have different meaning for different people, I guess:)

Cliquey? Yes, I think it probably is, but only now that I know a bit more about this forum.

I've only been a member for a short while and haven't posted that much, but I have to admit that one time I did start a thread and asked a relevant question, I was quite surprised how few replies and even views I got, whereas someone else who posted at the same time got many times more!

So as someone else just said, I think the cliquier members tend to stick together and only read and respond to threads where the OP has over a certain number of posts to their name. Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree, but that's how it feels. Not a big deal at all, but interesting to note!

All that, and I have no clue what half of the abbreviations mean (note how I used OP - showing I'm actually quite "with it"!!). Maybe a glossary would be useful for us newbies?!!!

Great forum though - let's keep it that way :)

I'd be very interested in who everyone thinks are the "popular" members. I'd be pretty keen to put money on everyone thinking its different people!!

Nooooooo don't go there, all Hell would break loose and there would be tears before bedtime:eek:

Although I reckon you're right, but I'm happy to leave it as a theory;)

I think this is more because people don't post if they feel they have nothing helpful to add or if what they would say has already been covered by others, I know that applies to me. There are also the 'contentious' posts that always draw a lot of response/views, and the 'contentious posters' who no matter what they write tend to get a lot of views because people want to see it they are starting a fight again. Don't take it personally!

Dont worry I wasnt suggesting people acutally name names (please dont, people!) just saying that I'd put money on everyone thinking it was someone else!

when I first joined I found it hard to find my place so to speak. Now I pop on make the odd post but dont' get 'involved' anymore with arguements etc and like someone else said I fly under the radar so get left alone.

I wouldn't take that bet either...

I think this forum used to be terribly "cliquey" but not nearly so much now. Now, there are so many hundreds and hundreds of new members that it would almost be impossible to keep up with them all!

Actually - I tested this theory out once - a very prominent person put up a picture of a new horse and I intentionally wrote a comment that was truthful, polite but could easily be taken the wrong way - and Oh My God - it was!! Hundreds of replies sympathising with the poor OP, telling her how wonderful she was, blah blah but had the same comment been made (and had been) on a not so well known member's post - it barely went noticed!

But then - there is nothing to say that this is a bad thing at all (possibly a little discriminatory) its natural for friends to stick up for friends - that's why they are friends! :p
