Do you think this horse looks thin/tucked up?

my god, if people think she looks thin/tucked up, you should see my Welshie at the moment. He's hunting fit, seriously lean and fit and looks like a greyhound - he is most definitely not thin but after some of the comments above I'm not posting pics of him!

Nice little D, I'd much rather see them like this than overweight. Mares are often longer in the barrel, from her head and limbs she isn't a chunky stamp of cob. I wouldn't worry about her, the grass will be through soon and she'll be blooming.

She is not thin! You cannot see her ribs and from behind her bottom is rounded and her pelvis is not prominent!

I hope you don't mind me saying that her conformation is similar to my daughter's old pony in that she is quite long in the back and not hugely deep in the chest, which can make them look rather light at first glance. However, if you actually condition score her properly and look at neck, ribs and bottom, you can see she is in healthy condition (which is not always the same as 'show condition'

QR. I don't think she looks thin at all. And if she were mine I probably wouldnt be adding haylage to her diet right now. In a matter of weeks she'll have the spring grass to contend with which will pile weight on her, so best thing is to keep her as is for the time being.

She's a lovely mare and I think she looks just right. Please don't take any notice of anyone who's comparing her to these show ring ponies.

A little, yes. I suppose it depends what the Section D is crossed with as to how hard she is to keep weight on. For her type she does look a little lean, but could it be lack of muscle rather than fat? I am sure it is healthier to be on the lean side rather than the plump side!
