I am going to look at a 13 year old grey gelding, connemara x tb, If I buy him he would be just a happy hacker but he has done some dressage and jumping. He comes with all tack and rugs. Price is £2,800 ovno. Is this a reasonable price for a horse of this age or is it expensive?

I paid 1500 for my connemarax tb who is 13,and has hunted, team chased, show jumped, ode everything really.Mind you i do think he was cheap!

Sounds quite reasonable if the tack is good. Consider that to deck a horse out with basic equipment would probably be around £1000, probably more if you were to buy everything new, if you were to buy very good quality then double that again. If they are offering a couple of manky rugs and an old or synthetic saddle its perhaps not such a good deal.

At 13 the horse could be starting to show arthritis etc, however you may get another good 10 years, especialy if the Connie is dominant. Certainly worth a look. If he has done dressage and jumping it may spur you into having a go!

If tack and rugs are decent, it sounds reasonable, depending on confimation/ how he rides.
Worth having a gander - if you like him you could always offer 2.5k and go from there.

It sounds a fair price, like they are being realistic price wise for a quick sale. As the others say, fair if the tack is reasonable, not if it's a load of worn out old rubbish, but then it would do to start you off and you could upgrade it at your leisure. Definitely worth a look.
