Hi, can anyone give me advice on what this could be and what to do about it?

The discoloured hair 'halo' is about the size of a £2 coin, maybe a tad larger with a hard black lump in the middle. The lump got knocked off a couple of weeks ago, but it is now growing back again. It is on my youngsters neck.

Thanking you in advance for any help and advice :)

It's possible, we have a horse on our yard that has various types of sacoids, however some of them that are on his body are just like that, although they are very slow growing ones.

I would keep a close eye on it, if its not really growing, personally I wouldnt interfere with it, if its growing then I'd have it looked at and dealt with.

Some warts or other irritations can look like sarcoids though, so I wouldnt panic, it may not be one.

It may be. I would call the vet out just in case, best to catch it early.

A horse at my yard had one just at her girth which kept getting knocked and re-growing. She ordered a product from Global Herbs and it was gone in 3 months.

hi there
Thanking you in advance for any help and advice :)
my mare is on her second treatment for sarciods (not the same ones) i would either get a vet or email the photo to the specilist in liverpool which i did) and he will tell you if it is and what type it is - then the vet must get involved and don't frighten yourself by looking on the internet like i did, if they are sarcoids they look like they are in the early stage which take it fom me it is good- chances are some cream (which the vet has to put on ) treatment is 1 or 2 weeks and they should go . x x x x all the best - hope this helps

Not the normal place for a sarcoid but best get it checked anyway. Personally i'd be surprised if it was one. Let us know!

Think I am right in saying the only surefire way to diagnose a sarcoid is to biopsy it. If the biopsy comes back as negative, all well and good. If not, the process of sampling will have irritated the sarcoid and the likelihood of it being triggered into growing rampantly or spreading is massively increased.
