For part livery do you think this is reasonable for £85p/w per horse:
- use of faciliteis
- turnout
- rug change
- mucking out
- hard feed
- haylage / hay
- checking

bedding is extra at £6.50 per bale of shavings, and parking of lorry or trarailer at owners risk

do you think this is reasonable??

if not can you tell me why??

feed or bedding what shall i include what do u recon??

i need your advice

Well I know that depending on where you are int he UK also changes the price, but what faciliteis do you have? Have you checked out and compared it to others near by!

if everyone is charging more than that in your area and it's working then it's righty priced.
 
I charge £65 per week part livery all you have stated, which includes all feed, haylage, straw. Full use of all facilities no extra charge for lighting for using the indoor school. We do not charge for lorry parking as it then makes us liable should the vehicle get stolen/broken into etc. Unless you were in London I wouldn't pay £85 per week. We also have 365 day turn out as well.
 
£20 p/w is a lot for parking the trailer, at my yard it's free but on many other yards I've been to it's only £20 a month...

Depends on where you are in the country I think, my yard charges £480 per month for part livery, but it has excellent facilities. It would depend how good your facilities are (we have horse walker, 60 x 20 school, 25 X 25 school, full showjump course set out in field in summer, xc jumps and a gallop)
 
I get everything on your list for £58 per week. One bale of shavings included, extra shavings £5 a bale. Lorry parking £5 a month!

£20 p/w week for trailer parking bloody hell I paw £2 p/w bit pricey IMO but depends where you are.
 
full livery works out at £81 p/w at my yard in shropshire with exactly the same facilities as you describe so £85 p/w does not seem that bad. plus we have to buy shavings ourselves if we want them on shavings, they wont supply them. only £20 per month to park lorry though. £20p/w is a bit steep!

if i let people keep there lorrys there for nothing because of there lorrys getting broken into or something like that not sayin they will but just at owners risk but keep the same price £85p/w per horse i throw in a bale of shavings but then they have to ge there own if they need them or buy them off me for £6 ????? or let them have bedding and not feed what do u suggest???? im really great ful for all your suggestions please keep them going i need all yours help!!!!!
 
I would like to know how you justify lorry/trailer parking at £20pw???!!

And i'm very shocked bedding isn't included at that price too.

It would definately have to be full livery for me to pay those prices i'm afraid

My yard is 47.50 part livery with unlimited forage and shavings, we have a smallish school but cross country and showjumps (mostly in the field) & 365 day turnout. I live in the north east though. And grass livery is only £12!!!!

Bit steep IMO, knock of £20/25 and would be bob on, depending what area you are in.

£20 per week is way to expensive for just parking box/trailer, normally only £5p/w max at most places!
 
Hayley - where abouts in the country are you?

My chap is stabled in South Bedfordshire. I pay £50 per week for 5 days part livery, DIY at weekends.
Bedding, Hay, feed etc are extra.
Free parking for trailers. Not much room for these tho.

However just up the road I happen to know its £90 per week part livery. eeek!

It also includes use of facilities, turnout, muckout etc.

I wouldnt have to pay for parking my trailer!

that does actually sound ok

At my yard on the edge of Epping forest part livery is about that.

when you break it down
£30 rent
£35 mucking out ( 7 days @£5)
£14 turnout ( 7 days @ £1 in & £1 out)

that comes to £79 not including bedding which is £6.75 a bale or hay at £3.80 a bale
 
I've read this thread & I can't see where anyone said that parking a trailer was £20 p.w? Someone said £20 p.w. was far too much...agreed....but where did anyone say they were actually being charged this?

Be very careful about including 'unlimited' anything in with Livery Charges. A friend of mine did this & there was so much waste of hay/haylege & other things that he had to revise everything. People get extremely greedy when they are offered this kind of deal.

Um, in the westcountry (rural) DIY livery with all year turnout is about £25 pw, and I guess you would charge £5 pd turnout/bring in, and £3 mucking out.

I wouldn't provide hard feed or bedding, you can always buy in bedding at pallet prices and then add a bit back on to make a profit. Maybe charge haylage at a flat weekly rate through the winter ie £5-10 pw.

When you add it all up, if you are running this as a business, you have to know that you are making a profit.

For that price for part-livery your facilities are going to have to be stupendous - including things like big indoor and outdoor schools, cross-country course, solarium, hot-walker, ready access to excellent hacking, or most of these things and for each thing you're lacking out of that list I'd knock about £5 off. For instance, Crow Wood charge £99.50 (only £15 per week more) for full livery and their facilities are absolutely astounding. Have a snoop round their site and see how they've priced things up.

I think it would be better to throw in one bag of feed, haylage and bedding (whatever size fits your budget) with the bill and then let them buy extras rather than setting the price lower and letting them buy it all themselves. You could then make a small amount back by charging a little bit more for supplying them one bag per week, and any extras are up to them unless they wish to buy it from you. That way you haven't forced them to buy everything from you, but you are also making a steady, predictable income from each of your liveries.

WHAT?! I feel like a right mug. I pay £95 per week for all hay, straw, mucking out, all facilities but have to pay extra for wormer, shoes etc.

Oh year and they want £25 per week EXCLUDING VAT to park a trailer and £35 per week EXCLUFING VAT to park a lorry - WTF?! Needless to say, if I had either, I wouldn't park it there!
 
i think for £85 per week you need to do

all on your list so bedding, hay and hard feed included.

But no suppliments, feed balancers and you could say hard feed that you use is provided if they want different they have to supply it and storage bins for it.
Also hayledge would be extra.

Bedding would be straw or woodchip.

at my yard it's £97 per month for stabling, bedding, feeding, turnout, mucking out, full use of both outdoor schools and the indoor, showjumps, xc course, horse walker, hot wash box and solarium. lorry and trailer parking is free and you always have advice, they book farrier and vet for you and pay them, then you get a bill everytime your horse is shod/wormed/vaccinated. they get well looked after when your not around, and they will exercise them if you need them to.
so basically, we got a real good deal for less than £100 a MONTH.
