Do you visit your horse on xmas day?

I would be visiting my boy tomorrow but my car is still stuck in the snow!!! I am going to try and nick my mum's but as she is rather allegic to horses she is very against the idea :(
Need to come up with some ways of getting her to let me have it for an hour, any one got any ideas?
Hoping my car will be free after another day of sunshine, so get to play with Ollie on Sunday :D

I'm on full livery, but on Christmas day it's tradition that the liveries go up at the crack of dawn and do all the mucking out etc, and a couple of the grooms come in and cook us brekkie - it's a really nice atmosphere and I love seeing to my girlie.

For the first time in 3 years, no :(

I am on call tomorrow (ranted about this before so will not go into it again) and I don't get very good signal at the yard so can't go in case I miss a call.

The only way I will be able to is if I get sent to the Cop Shop round the corner from the stables because I will dash up there afterwards and give Bailey a cuddle for 10 mins or so as I can pretend that I was still in the Cop Shop and had my phone off :D

I am gutted as I normally rock up to yard with Santa hat on etc! However, if I can't get there then Boxing Day will be our Christmas Day and I am intending to spend the whole day with him :)

Of course I do, the horses don't know it's Christmas Day - it's just an ordinary day for them. I will be going to the yard 3 times tomorrow as there are no staff working so it's DIY. Might manage to ride too on one of those visits (before Christmas Dinner though!) ;)

its my first year with my horse and she is at a livery yard at the moment where they will do everything for her but i plan on riding tomorrow and opening her presants and so on. shes just finished her advent calender (horse chocolates).

No different - the old gal is about 20 feet from the kitchen door! She will have Polos and a few apples in her feed. She has a huge pair of red satin leg warmers (sorry, she is a bit of an old tart) hanging up outside her "room". She has received a Xmas card from her son so is delighted with that! Other than that, it will be just like any other day for an old slapper....the horse that is....*thinks - am I quite sure about that and is it the horse that's/who's the old slapper???*

Anyway - Festive Greeting to all!

It's my first Xmas with her and I will be up there about 6am and 5pm, as usual, I expect. I have asked Father Christmas to bring a thaw, but if he doesn't, she'll only be out for about 1/2 hour each end of the day so mucking out will be a delight...here's to a happy Christmas and a snow-free new year!

Business as usual.

If I dont go up, they dont get fed, watered etc so I have to.

I'll be doing the liveries too as normal.

I might not spend as long with them so I can get back to my family and kids, but still get done as normal.

After all, its just a normal day to them.

yes as normal as on diy, up feed - no riding though - day off then i off to work. wont be doing the afternoon visit as still at work so a fellow livery doing her in pm and i doing her horse in am.

Yep - our yard doesn't normally turn out on Christmas Day, so I do the Bear and his friend, can't expect them to spend the day in their stable while I stuff and drink myself silly. Will be back after lunch to walk the dogs and pop the neddys to bed.

JDx

sadly this year i wont :( just family and fella stuff and me travelling around but today they had a christmas snog from me and my stable fairy will give them a christmas day uddle from me :)

So nice to hear that everyone puts their horses first at Christmas. I always found it a boon to say Ive got to get to the stables when I did have family commitments just to get away from everyone for a break!

I'm another that has the 'christmas is just another day' thing going on, Plus my grandma was taken into hospital today so that has ruined christmas for me anyway, will spend most of my time tomorrow at the hospital with her :(

Mostly a normal day for mine. I will go up to her at 8am, have cuddles and treat time then she will go out for a bit while I muck out. Then she has to come back in, as off to OH parents for lunch so won't be back early enough in bring her in. Will do her in the eve on the way home again.

Boss has got me and Mum house sitting over Christmas...so I have to wake up to my moustache terror -.-
It's nice though :D over the past few months I've learned to not waste every little chance I get to spend with him and my dogs. You never know what's going happen :(

All yard done, ready for tonight :)
1st time I've not ridden on xmas day tho and thats only down to the sheet ice out there - felt a bit odd driving home at 8.15 this morning without having ridden

I couldn't not do my horse at xmas - its just another day to them.
