We got a 4th in Prelim 4 on Tuesday night.
So proud of my fatman. He is an a Angel.

It was far from perfect, we broke canter and circles not accurate etc etc, but he has been doing nothing for 3 weeks, as I was on holiday, so he is a bit rusty, but you can see what a forward going boy he is!!
He is such a fun fellow.

Well done, that was brilliant. He is lovely how big is he? I have just bought an irish cob and was wondering if I would be able to have a go at dressage on him. Keep up the good work

He is only 15.1hh. you can do anything with them if you school them right but of course you not going to be able to go much higher than Elementary in Dressage as they just have not the movent to compete against the other better designed horses.
But for most RC stuff you can have a lot of fun -safely!

My next thing is jump cross training 60 cm, mind you.
 
My pet name for my cob(Grace) is can't canter, won't canter, I have had her since she was 2 she is now 7 this year and she is just establishing her canter, apparantly cobs are late to mature and because the way they are built which is naturally downhill canter does not come easy to them. I have been doing lots of polework and started her jumping which is really improving her. She can get an 8 for her walk and 7's for her trot but canter at the moment is a 6 usually, sometimes a 7 on a good day. As she is becoming more canter fit and using her hocks a little more she is now able to soften

Tell that to Wayward Wesley who must have been working at least medium at home before his injury

I have recently read an article by a top dressage rider that says the big moving warmbloods will always win at the lower levels because they don't have to do a lot to look good, however, when the training and hard work is put in then higher level competing can be for any horse that can do the movements and this is when horses can succeed with their ability not just how they look or are put together

There will always be exceptions! I have heard of some being able to go Prix St George, but I am talking about Mr/Mrs Average
Depends a lot on how the cob is built, some are really athletic build with a lot of hair on top.
Mine is the low slung short legged, long backed type,
we are aware of our limitations.

. An old loaner once had my cob doing medium tests - god knows how!

My boy looks just like yours, but without the white on his front leg. Is your boy a pure vanner? It is down on my boys passport he is Shire x Irish Cob, but he is almost exactly the same build and height as yours! And he came from somewhere in ireland
 
A fantastic well done, 4th is brilliant! Please keep going with the dressage!!! I want to compete against more cobs, my boy is at Novice (we do quite well against the WBs, even if I do say so myself) and we have started a bit of Elementary at home. So cobs can do dressage!

Even the Fjord does a half decent Prelim!

I dont think he is pure anything! just pure pleasure in a hairy bundle!

His passport just says Irish Cob but my friends says she bought him from the gypsys who said he was a very good example of a Vanner Gypsy Cob. I think he has too elegant a neck - its very long with a high head carriage and he is quite sensitive too, sometines spooky and nervous of people, maybe he just has a lot of Spanish blood in him, he also has a very fine shiny coat not coarse to touch.
