This, im sure, is areally pointless and silly post, but im just genuinley interested! After covering myself in fruity smelling hair shine sprays, perfume, mango body butter, stawberry lipbalms and the rest etc, I wonder what the horses must think!?? Does anyone conscientiously try and avoid wearing too much, do you think it affects them in anyway??

Apologies again as this is just balderdash but im intrigued!

I don't because I work on a horse yard and I deal with the stallion on a day to day basis. They say that perfume etc "sets them off"

It may be an old wives tale but TBH I have never wanted to test that theory

DISCLAIMER: I don't stink mind, I do wear deoderant before you get ideas

Not unless I've been to work first. In the holidays she gets the scruffy look. TBH I only started wearing perfume to work after people were coming into my classroom and asking what the smell was! Thankfully the drains were dodgy so I always blamed them!

I once wore a musk based perfume to a dressage competion where the YO was competeing my friends horse, and was asked by him if I was wearing perfume as it was sending her riggy horse up the wall!

If I do wear perfume then it is when I have worn it at work, and still have a trace on me when I go down in the evening to finish off.........my gelding quite likes Diesel Fuel For Life and has tried to lick my neck, when I have worn that....Erm,he is a odd cob!

i try to be carefull what i wear at work because of the stallions, and there are siz of them and havnt had a problem yet, but i wouldnt like to take a chance, i have known a colt pin someone between the handles of a wheelbarrow and it was down to them wearing a certain perfume.

I only have one bottle of perfume and there's no way I'm wasting it on scruffy yard days!

I only ever wear it when I'm going out somewhere nice. A good squirt of deodorant will do me just fine.

Crikey No.

It would thoroughly upset my boy, he gets very agitated when visitors come on the yard reeking of the stuff.

i dont wear perfume or makeup during the day as i work outside doing gardening, hedge laying, mucking out etc etc, when i have had any on in the past i find i get bitten a lot more by horrible nasty fliey bitey things.

See Corona? not such a balderdash comment!!! Must admit I've noticed him looking oddly if I come from work to the yard - but that might just be I look funny wearing suit & heels in mud! I wear 1 of 2 perfumes, not noticed him react to one in particular, but he is alot more affectionate at weekends when I'm just in the manky fleece and eau-de-muckheap so it must be quite a sense-assault for them!

Around mine yes...am sure he likes the smell

I used a 'fruty' perfumed bodyspray (inverted commas because calling the smell fruity was stretching a point) before riding once as a teenager and my fave RS horse was fascinated... he had his nose shoved into my armpit for ages and then sneezed a lot and looked most bemused

I never really bother with perfume now unless I'm going out anyway.
