... travel you horse in a trailer with it's tack on ??

I personally think this is a no no. So much room for rather expensive accidents. I normally tack tack with me and then try and throw it on while he is tied up and not standing still, surely this is part of the fun ??

I only ask as a lady uses our school and travels for about 20 mins from her yard and the horse is fully tacked up with a rug thrown over saddle and headcollar over bridle, reins and everything. I can semi understand a bridle under a headcollar ( have considered this myself) but surely detach the reins

I could be wrong so opinions please !!!

no, because when i once travelled Harry in the trailer with his saddle on (on the way to hunting) he had a fit and it had slipped (even though it was done up tightly) and he was in such a sweat, really stressed him out.

If I'm going to a show (showjumping, dressage, hunter trialling etc.) I'll travel him untacked, but if I am hunting I'll travel him with his tack on

i have done sometimes, though only if i am travelling for a maximum of five minutes, either hunting or local registered show is very close by but very rarely do and dont really recommend it!

Always tack up before hand when I'm going hunting- I value life and when my boys have heard hounds, they dont stand still for all the tea in china.

i do, BUT only saddle plus brestplate not bridle and martingale attached. But will only do if both horse know each other and travel well together. To protect saddle alway place traveling sheet over their backs.
If hunting will go fully tack up, but that's cos there is no way i can tack up anywhere near hounds

got to get out and on board instantly
No right or wrong IMO, but i basis my desicion on who's going into transport etc.... and how long and type of equine event

We do when we go down to the xc training as it is only 10/15 mins away and horses are both sound travellers. This is the only time we do, they go untacked to shows etc.

Yes especially before hunting, have had quite a few experiences when the horse is just not going to stand still at the meet and has broken something whilst trying to tack up.

Yes if I've hired the show jumping course at Patchetts as it's 5 mins down the road. Louis travels fine in his tack. I wouldn't do it for long journies or for competing
