Got a new Miniature Shetland colt about a month ago and he always licks my big boys feed buckets out and the other night decided to watch him. He put his head in feed bowl and rolled with the feed bucket on his head  lol the most funnies thing i have seen in a while!! x

My TBxID lifts his leg up and starts swinging it around when you give him his feed :p x

What do your horse/ponies/shetlands do??

Thanks In Advance

My shetland behaves occasionally, that's unusual for him lol!!!

And I was holding a feed skip the other day which he grabbed hold of and started playing tug of war with me. Nutter, does too many odd things to list!!!

I feed my Welsh cobs using buckets hung over the fence... to keep the Shetland off their food, because he used to chase them off it....

After a few days, had to add a sheet of ply down the fence, as Shetland used to stick his head through the post and rail, head butt the bucket off the fence, where it'll fall neatly on the floor for him to hoover up.

Having solved that one... the one I couldn't sort was him then chasing off the cob, rearing up, and throwing himself momentarily head first into the bucket. Grabbing as much food as a Shetland can, in 10 seconds, whilst balancing body against fence using hind legs.... and then drop down.... and eat it all

Bah! He was a pain in the backside!!

.... but now he's too old to do it..... ha ha!!

What a clever little boy, lol. That did make me laugh when reading this :D Can't believe he chases them off little cheecky monkey, my big boys always pull faces at my minis :p x

I have three mini Shetlands and one of the younger mares does that, ie.puts her head in the empty feed bucket, lies down with head still in and rolls! LOL She also pushes buckets around the yard with her nose in it.

The welshie I share always drags his nose along the floor on the way in from the field, he's ruined the bottom of his fly mask now, it's all frayed and ripped, silly pony. He has no idea of the value of money!

LOL, cheecky boy, my welshies rugs, fly masks, etc never last as he always damaging them!! Must be a welsh thing x

My coloured cob in the winter deliberatly goes into bushes to get his rug in tatters. He also picks up his bucket and turns it upside down then lobs it. lol I cant use haynets anymore as he manages to untie them.

my little pony will pick up his feed bucket once finished and throw it across the yard...when he eats everyone stays away for 5 minutes!!
another on the yard hops on one front leg when its feed time....wierd

I don't think this is that unusual really but it makes me smile like mad........my little mare opens up the lid of the box next to the stable that holds her treats and then nudges my arm as if to say "go on mum just get me one". Also if I lock the box so she can't lift the lid then she just places her right foot on top and glares at me!

My 24 yr old She(i)tland has learnt to completely empty his water bucket in the morning if he thinks he's not been turned out soon enough - wouldn't mind but it's tied 12 inches off the floor, and soaks his bed.
He climbs his gate if the mood takes him, and used to use his haynet as a ladder (and yes it was high, but we've installed a fine mesh that he can't get his ickle feet into anymore)
My mums 17hh Holstien likes to boss him about with his teeth. His counter attack is to reverse at speed between his front legs and buck - he's just won't tollerate it and stops it before it starts with the well practiced manouver.
But his favourite thing is decking children - mind you, when it comes to Shetlands I don't think that's unsual at all.

Today I fed Tinkerbell, the mini and peered out of my stable all of thirty seconds later to see she had finished it and chucked it a good 20 feet across the yard (she was tied up) how I have no idea!

Shetland - Wow very clever and mischievous lol :D x

Holstein - Awwww lol, my boy sometimes gets annoyed with the minis!! x

hehe jack puts his feet in buckets lol and follows you with his nose on your shoulder when poo picking and ten sniffs his poop and kicks the barrow and then picks up the poopa scoop :D

Okay, Dela isn't *exactly* a shetland - in fact, she's a 16.1hh oldenburg. She is the sweetest and most lovely horse I have ever known. Her strange thing is that today the farrier came to put her front shoe back on. She spent the whole time licking the back of his head. She really is lovely (and strange!)

Sometimes she gets 'licky' - like if you have those gloves with the little lumpy bits all over the palms, she licks them too. And sometimes, just to be cool, she licks your face! I love Dela :)

sharon1959 - Sounds a very mischievous boy hehe, sounds as if you are always spending money on your boy for new rugs :p x

Littleblackmule - That is soooooo cute!! Then he loses it at the end, bless him x

#Yes I got a cheap fly rug to keep the flies away from his Sarcoid he has on his chest-two days later,it was in bits, massive holes in it and surcingle off, threw it away. He got the leg straps off his winter rug last year,so left them off, it also has a big tear in the front. He doesnt like rugs I guess lol

My horse licks my face too, quite funny.Hes learnt how to untie the lead rope also the little section A followed suit lol
I love it when he pulls faces!!!! Drops his bottom lip!!!

lol, cheecky boy. Cheap rugs sound a good idea with your buy. Little Monkey :p x

This is going to sound totally nuts but it's true honest! My section a is very 'nibbly' and likes to pick stuff up in her mouth and carry it around. Once she picked up on of my wellies and dropped it about 100 yards away. The funniest was definitely when she picked up the dog's squeaky ball and proceeded to bite into it squeak it. She actually liked the noise (!!) and now if you throw the ball on the floor she goes to it and picks it up to squeak it- I swear that she is just a confused dog!
