I dont stop and talk to people i dont know anyway so they wouldnt have the chance to do this?
and like spudlet said above just because they know my name doesnt mean they are more likely to pull me off my horse, this could happen anytime and i dont think knowing my name would help :)

That was the point i was trying to get across, Kitty..its obviously not much of a concern to most, and as i said earlier, i wish i hadn't bothered now.

I was walking to school on my own at 12,a trip of about 30 mins.Don't think I would be too comfy about my son going out for a hack on his own at that age because of the nature of the sport,but other parents will be OK with it and that is their choice.
However,send them out in a coat with the names of both child and pony on,and anyone looking for a victim has a decent amount of info to get them talking and trusting.

"Ohh,thats Blacky is it? Not seen her for years,she was always my favorite at the RS" WILL make a child who is perfectly capable fo a aswift sod off want to chat.....
