In the past week my horse has become unusually submissive and docile, he is leaving his hay, stopping eating his tea to walk across his stable and see whats going on ouside when theres a loud noise and if not this he's resting his eyes at every chance he gets. This is unusual to his normal cheeky chappy attitude and wondered advice you would give  . Thanks!

yeh i would get bloods done also, mine was really lazy and dopey, had his bloods done and they confirmed he has a virus, as does another horse on the yard and the vet said there is a lot about at the moment

Ahh thankyou i am definatly going to phone them now!
this may sound silly as the answer will probably be yes but would you suggest leaving him in for a few days to prevent firthur complications?

hate to say it you have thrown me into panick 9which i rarely do) ; a few months ago the local riding school had an outbreak of strangles!!!! I'm deffo going to call the vet asap!!!! although i shall keep thinking/wishing for the best! :)

Take the horses temperature before you get into a panic, if it's high then you'll need to get the vet out asap, chances are (or at least a common thing)is that it could be a virus or a bit of an infection on the lung (if there is no other symptoms that is), but it can soon be sorted with vet visit, few jabs and some antibiotics.

Sorry really didnt mean to panic you but my horse didnt have a high temperature all the three weeks he had no signs what so ever. Like people have said could be simple virus .

although i may sound like i dont care (although i do as i don't no what i would do without my loveely horse) i am going to go to the yard soon and see how he is then decide on whether to call the vet or not :)
