Docken leaves - what is best to use

We have a new paddock but it is full of docken leaves. We've tried digging them out by the root but in three acres we're making little progress as basically you can hardly seen any grass for the dockens. Is there a weedkiller that could be used that is effective and will kill the roots too without the grass and can be used safely. The paddock won't be used for grazing until till November time

D'you mean docks?
If you do we use Grazon 90, available from farm supplies shops. It can be used with a watering can but if you have a lot a pressurised spray thingy (also available from farm supplies shops) is good. It's a spot treatment for weeds such as docks, nettles, thistles. They start to wilt/ curl up within 24 hours and you can graze animals back on it after 7 days. I do find it hard to see which ones I've done or missed so you'll probably need to go round a couple of times to get them all. Do them NOW though before they go to seed, that way there'll be a lot less next year.

Assuming you mean docks, I would agree with using Grazon 90. If your field is really thick with them though, I would spray the whole field rather than spot spraying.

If you are going to spot spray, then you might like to consider a glyphosate product, such as Roundup, but don't let it touch anything you don't want killed, as it kills everything. It is however safe as it becomes inert when it touches the ground.
