Dodgy ad??

Well I was wondering if he/she meant a bay tbh. I cant see why he just didnt get his horsey friend to write him an advert for him! and why on earth would anyone buy a horse if they no nothing about him :S. Daft really, and if it was a horse that did everything I would of thought it would have a higher price tag. Very odd

LOl I want to go and see it just for curiousity now :)

In all fairness they do probably mean bay....but there did used to be a chestnut who had a random black sock on an old yard!

You've got a point BobbyC, I suppose they would of put more effort into it and make up a load of rubbish if it was fake, but still, I honestly don't know how the person is going to sell the horse with an ad like that if it is genuine. I'm wondering if the horse is properly looked after, proper food, water, care etc.

Another simple soul with a field will probably go along and buy it off him cuz they have a field and it's cheap! Or a dealer who will treble it's price! I bet they feed it treacle sandwiches lol

I know, I really want to see some pictures but you have to call, there isn't an email, I don't really want to call incase its something dodgy or a scam or something.

Sadly, most ad's on Preloved are put there by complete idiots selling really poor animals.

It is a well known site for dire looking stock.

Preloved?...how ironic.

I was thinking exactly the same! I hate to be a pessimist, but I would hate it if it was skinny with worms or fat with lami because the owner doesn't have a clue, but thats just me :). Or they could be feeding it cut grass from the lawnmower and potatoe peelings...eek!!

Very ironic, never really looked on this site, was just flicking through and seen the ad, I hope it isn't real! I want to know how they got their hands on it in the first place!! that is if it is genuine)

I wouldn't be so patronising of them....quite a few top bargains can be found on there.

And DD, yes some ads, especially some of the yearlings can be very poor...however, a fair few of them have some stunning cobs on there most of the time. And a few are just from the travelling comunity, so spare them if they're not at livery yards etc.

Free/fairly cheap advertising sites at the end of the day.

Now if you want even more scarier...try some of the ones on done deal. But again....there are always some crackers on there too!

:)

Diamonds in the rough everywhere Binky.

true, I would love to buy all the horses like this but I struggle to afford 1 :P But then that just encourages more a.rse holes to sell half knackered horses to make a few quid.

Oh lordy, I have advertised my pony for sale on Preloved, have had a couple of enquiries but thought it would be ok to use as he is only cheap.... he is really well loved and looked after though!!!!!

Because some idiot will feel sorry for it, buy it, and apply for the bloody passport.

One born everyday.

And possibly buy it quite cheaply and give it a good life.......what is wrong with that? Do not be so judgemental of the under class of the horse dealing world - this makes me less sad, then those who post on this forum that they want a cheap or £0 horse, because despite having no funds to buy - they then seem to have a deep pockets for looking after it.....really?
Many of these poor screws sold by those scratching a living in scrap metal and horses, sell animals that might have done too much for 6 months or so of their lives (2 year olds that are broken to harness) but given 6 months or so off, decent grazing, worming etc. turn out to be wonderful horses - often better than someones home bred lovely, that they want oodles of money for, are ill mannered, have no experience and keep the gadget / alternative horsemanship people in mega bucks for a long, long time......
Being a bit generalistic here, but hate to see a section of society made out to be the bad people always....when the ill informed middle classes can be as bad! Compare your ragged cob on the driving forum, with the 2 year olds that got to Ascot and Doncaster bloodstock sales.......not much difference - apart from a 2 year old at Ascot / Donnie might have cost someone squillions more a year ago........And sadly will have less chance of being a nice PC / RC / Happy hacker alrounder....rant over!

Very true, but i've known of some to be nasty people wether their scraping a living or not, plus you need to be careful what you buy, if you decided to get it vetted its likely it will fail, not saying all. I've known of someone buying 2 horses cheap that were going for meat. They brought strangles to the yard. BUT! He sold one to a decent home and the other he kept as a broodmare and made lovely foals plus it is now a riding horse for a very nervous rider and has gave her oodles of confidence (Obviously after being cured). All im saying its a bit of gamble with these horse IMO, but I have never bought one personally so I suppose I cant say much on the subject, but we are all entitled to our own opinion.
