I am so annoyed at the moment. I went to see a lovely IDx on Tuesday that I really liked. I said I wanted him pending a vet check. The dealer said ok and asked me if I was sure. I said I was and offered a deposit. She said she didn't need a deposit and said she wouldn't sell him to anyone else. I called the vets straight away the next morning and agreed for them to call her to arrange the vetting. The vets called me later in the day saying they had left messages on her phone but she hadn't replied. I then called her and she claimed she hadn't got any messages so I asked the vets to call again. Same thing happened! Then I spoke to dealer and asked her to call them instead. She didn't and today when I called her, she avoided my call and then text to say she sold the horse last night as she couldn't wait any longer for vetting to be sorted! The cheek!!! I have been trying for days to get it sorted!!! I feel she was just holding out for someone to turn up with the money who didn't want him vet checked. Makes me wonder if there is a problem with him and she is trying to hide something. Some people are so dishonest. It makes you feel like you can't trust anyone anymore. Gutted. (p.s. I did reply to her message and gave her a piece of my mind...made me feel a bit better )

sounds like you may have had a lucky escape, whatevers meant to be will work out perfectly, you will find the right 1 soon i'm sure x

I think you are right, she wanted to sell him to someone who didnt want a vetting so you have probably saved yourself a couple of hundred quid on a horse that would of failed. The right horse will be out there for you somewhere

sounds a bit odd , but prob for best if she was so desperate about not letting you have vet check , she must have just wanted someone to pay cash as you say .
You will find a horse that you will be able to vet check without this hassle . good luck .

Could be dodgy but as a business a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush so to speak.

Doesn't do much for the client relationship though and you certainly won't be recommending them in future - s o not a great long-term strategy. Hopefully this just means you haven't met your perfect horse yet - and they are waiting just round the corner for you

Wasn't meant to be - agree it sounds like she didn't want horse vetted which is odd unless she knows he's got an underlying problem ?

Whereabouts is the dealer? PM me if you prefer

Sounds like she found a buyer guillible enough to buy him without a vetting. Very annoying for you but I think you may well have had a lucky escape here.

Hmmmmm, actually to me (as a dealer) it sounds like someone else had seen him first, left a deposit, and she was waiting for them to reply, either they were also having him vetted, or paying cash which he wasn't sure she was going to get. I only tell people not to leave deposit if someone else already has! But you learn in the wold of horse selling that there are lots of dodgy buyers, some who leave deposits and never come back, others who say they are getting the vet and end up getting out some sort of vet = of hitler, etc. etc. Its good business sense to have as many people as poss interested in the horse for the money point of view but does nothing as you say for client relations except if you can then find them something better!

Yes they had the right number. I checked twice. I also gave the dealer the vets number too. Dealer not in peterborough as mentioned above. I'd rather not say who they are on the forum, but if you would like to know, PM me.

I appreciate your view as a dealer. It always helps you understand things better when you see if from the other side. I just wish she had been honest with me. I wouldn't have minded if she had said that to me and said that if the other buyers pulled out I would have next refusal. The impression I have now been left with is that they are dishonest and have lied to me, for whatever reason.
Thanks again though for replying.

I agree with TH.
Doesn't mean the dealer is dodgy just because someone else has come along and paid a deposit without the grief of being available for a 2 hour vetting.
Just means you have defo sold the horse, first come first served in my opinion.
