Dodgy passports

On the issue of dodgy passports, as raised by another poster, my next door neighbour was given a 20 something coloured cob as a first horse with an Arab horse society passport... Which doesn't look anything like the real one I've seen...

Is this the worst fake ever?

I doubt he's stolen, more likely he originates from somewhere too tight to pay for a real passport... We're not short of fields full of unloved cobs around here, if you know what I mean!

I doubt his owner will give two hoots.
 
From what I found out, a horse doesn't have to be of the type of the passport for it to be legal. So you could quite possibly have a cob registered as an arab - chalk and cheese, but there you go!

And they can look a right state too... (passport, not the horse ;) )
 
We had a Welsh Mountin pony that had an Arab Horse Society Passport.

Purely and simply because we bred Anglo-Arabs and the Arab Horse Society (when passports first became law) offered their members discounts to issue passport for non Arabs. I think it cost us a tenner at the time.
 
Lol, whatever it is it's very strange. Unlike any passport I've ever seen. I see what you mean about registering breeds with another society though. Although, I suspect this particular cob didn't ever come from an Arab breeder.
 
it doesnt have to come from an arab breeder, it could just have been one of the cheapest ID only passports at the time.

Regards it looking like the 'real' one youve seen, the cobs passport wouldnt necessarily be the same whether its from the same PIO or not. I have 3 very diffferent looking passports from the Irish Draught Horse Society (GB), the full stud book one has one cover, a sport horse register one a different cover, and a purely ID register one with yet another cover. All are authentic.
