Hi newbie here! My feed guy informs me that D&H are now selling shavings in their own packaging. Has anyone tried them? if so what are they paying and are they any good
REP???? what's one of those??? we rarely see one from D&H.....we sell more dutch bales and bedmax so wouldn't really be interested in another brand anyway. but if their feeds are anything to go by, I would be happy using their shavings.
my guy said they are smaller flakes than Bedmax more absorbent and don't breakdown to dust or like a wood waste product. I was interested as I like their feed and it would be convenient to have a one lorry delivery.
They are manufactured on behalf of Dodson & Horrell by Shavings Direct. The bales are not quite as big as snowflake type bales but are a very good shaving.
We buy direct from the manufacturer and our last load came in the Dodson & Horrell bags which confused me no end to start with!
ahh so I'm not going mad! thank you would you recommend them? or go through to shavings direct/Eclipse (as they are called now, done a bit of research)
Don't know how much D & H charge per bale. We generally buy 2 pallets at a time from Shavings Direct and there are 36 on each one. It's worth contacting them and then comparing prices compared to how many you want in one go.
IMO they are better than bedmax. Very occasionally you get a small chunk/slither of wood in the bale which you can easily spot and discard.
I have done a bit more digging hard times trying to save every penny... and Shavings direct/Eclipse also sell online http://shavings.me.uk/ I will take your advice & contact shavings direct, D&H and the above and see who can do the best deal! thanks for you help.
