Dodson & Horrell - Suregrow

I was speaking to my Riding Instructor the other day and she was saying that a lady she knows from Dodson & Horrell swears by feeding Suregrow instead of something like Bluechip as it contains exactly the same stuff!
She said her whole yard is on it, no matter what work they are doing/age/condition etc and they all look amazing!
Has anyone else heard of this?
 
I feed it as a general balancer, I have 5 on it ranging fron a weanling who has it as a complete feed to an 18yr old native mare, a dressage horse, an eventer and a small hairy pony.
 
I have all 8 on it and they look the best they've ever looked. Ages range from 6 months to an 18 yr old that still competes bs
 
We have 9 on it from yearlings to 22yo plus in foal mare and all the others in between. Have used it for years, brilliant stuff and economical too
 
I would be very careful feeding a stud feed to normal horses. Too much can cause OCD by encouraging horses to grow faster than they ought. And an overload of vitamins can be detrimental to older horses.
 
Yes, I feed it too, excellent stuff for all ages.
While Wagtail is right that too much could do harm that can be said exactly the same for other feeds too. It is of comparable ingredients as Blue Chip although I can't find anywhere on the BC website that actually tells you what is in it plus the Baileys balancers but at half the price.

Suregrow isn't like stud cubes though, it is formulated especially to help prevent growth problems. That's why I use it as a complete feed for babies but as an additive/balancer for adult horses who get less than the recommended anout of feed for dietary reasons

For a 200kg/foal you would feen 0.5kg a day as a forage top up. If feeding stud cubes as the main diet you would feed 1.6kg of stud cubes.

I just looked it up, 26% protein but you feed very little

Thanks everyone - Yep, she said for a "normal" horse like mine just to feed it like a balancer with a bit of Dengie Hi-Fi or similar. A fraction of the price of Bluechip and lasts for ages apparently!
The D&H lady told her its because Studs wouldn't pay over the odds for the ingredients in Bluechip so they made Suregrow.
