I know a pony who has got a lot of weight on him especially coming out of winter. his flanks are barely visible and he has ripples where his fat is. His crest on his neck is really thick. He only has hay and grass with no feed. how do you know if there neck is dangerously cresty? And although i have mentioned it to the owner he doesnt seem to understand the issue. help would be greatly appreciated

If the horse looks dangerously overweight, tell the owner of the livery yard, and if the horse looks sore when walking, it would mean the horse probably does have laminates. Even if it doesn't, obesity is extremly dangourous and life threatening. Talk to the owner again, and if they don't do anything contact the RSPCA xx:)

Having been an owner who let her pony get too fat and get thankfully mild and hopefully one off lami, but whose pony is now very strictly controlled and a lot slimmer, I would say you would be doing the owner a favour by whatever action you take, just don't do nothing.

Unless the pony is a stallion or cut late and retained the crest for that reason, no crest is a good crest.

Tell the yard owner, maybe keep trying with the owner?

Having lost a pony to lami, it's something I never want to see again.

The worst you can do by hassling is annoy the owner. The best you can do is save that pony's life.
