Im after a 6"3 heavy weight. MUST have... detachable neck.. not a zip.

No Amgios!

price around 100-130.

its driving me mad. I just cant find what im after! its for a 14.2 coblet so something that has a good reputaion for being broad around the shoulds too.

thankies.. bacon butties are on the go!:)

Have you tried Premier Equine? I think they have a good reputation for being quite roomy and broad around the neck. Lovely rugs too.

im currently looking for a new heavy for my boy and I have been looking at Premier Equine - Have heard a few good things about them so hope santa (OH) mite drop one off to the horse

yes the 450x is on the list of maybes.. as is the WB orcian and taka.

am haggling on a taka at the mo for £110..

the reason for being fussy about the neck is he has a patch of rubbed mane which im presuming is from the dreaded combo rugs.. hes a traditional so really need it to grow back!

The Rhino plus is a great rug, heavy weight with a removable neck, can be used with liners as well so you can make it heavier if need be.

Detachable necks are worse on the manes than combo's. With any neck rug you are going to get some mane loss somewhere but detachable necks are definitely worse. You could do with a combo that has no seam.

I got WB Orican combos for my cobs because there was no neck seam. To be honest I've found that they still rub my traditional's mane out just above the wither. Someone suggested it's due to the heat and not actually a seam rubbing them. IMO the only way to preserve 100% of mane is to go naked, but if that's not an option then i'd still recommend the Orican as the baldness is better then previous years.

I use Premier Equine on my two coblets and they are super, wouldn't used anything else. They do come up large but my 16.2hh dalesxshire wears a 7' and my welsh D 15.2hh wears a 6'9". They don't rub the mane either.

I had a Taka for my arab some years ago.....fantastic rug and from what i remember it didnt rub his mane out at all. He had sweetitch quite bad and so was half maned most of the summer but it always grew back evenly in the winter so im pretty sure it didnt rub.

Good luck...rugs are a nightmare!

I've just got the PE buster trio and am very pleased with it. My lad is a bit of a pain to fit with his high wither and chest/broad shoulders. The Buster is not pulling down on his withers and is giving him plenty of room in front. Its good quality and well designed - I'd definitely recommend it :)

thankies all,

ive never had a rubbing problem with a detach a neck yet, so long as they are loosley fitting.

i love the fal rugs but the have a zip so are a no no.

naked neck.. yep its possible. think i may try the old cournercresin trick aswell... or just get some extensions!:D
