what a fluffy noseband is used for? silly question i know buti was thinking today, my mare came with one and i never really questioned it as she was kinda rescued.
I think most people use them cos they look "nice" lol
I may be totally wrong but i was led to believe that they make the horse lower it's head!!
If i am wrong, sorry, goes and hides just in case
Yep you are right missugoopy, the horse lowers its head because otherwise they cant see over the fluff! I think alot of people do just use them as a fashion accessory though!
People use them because they think a horse will look down at them and lower the head. I think that type of horse is more likely to go the other way and back off from one, but there you go.
see now i wasnt too far off with my theory... i thought they helped racers etc caz they couldnt see their feet?! (its been along morning) a kinda blinkered effect but just not if ya get me?
From a people view if you put your finger across your nose and look up you cant see clearly. Same theory as a Sheepskin noseband-my mare wears one and it just helps her bring her head down a touch when jumping-as she gets excited
I have one on my big lad too as he has a tendancy to hold his head high and it has helped.
I know a hell of a lot of trainers that use them for pretty much the same purpose.
