Does any work in the Equine industry in sales/marketing or similar??

Bit of a random one!!

I work in the City at the moment for a high-profile international company in a job that involves a lot of sales and busines development and i'm desperate to stop commuting and combine this with horses in someway!!

SO i'm wondering if anyone knows anyone who does something salesy to do with horses, perhaps clothing/feed/tack companies?

Or even in a dream world for BE is someone similar? If so do you know how they got into it/whats money like/if they think someone with good sales background and very expereinced with horses would have a shot?!!

Where do you find these types of jobs?

I know it's a bit of an odd post but you people always have great ideas!!

A friend of mine worked in marketing for a large supermarket and now is marketing manager of the largest tackshop in Kent..... Horse & Hound is the best place for the jobs. If you have a particular area of experience eg sales/marketing and a good knowledge of horses then it should be easy to combine as the skill set is the same.....in my opinion of course.......

Yes, I do too, sales rep for a supplement company, love my job, flexible hours & an understanding horsey boss. I go to my sj lessons during the day, & drop my trainer his order off while I am there. We are currently advertising, PM me for details.

Is the money as good as what you would earn in the city though?

I looked in to this a while back, as I was in pharmaceutical sales, and thought I would try and transfer to an equine company. The nearest that I found in terms of salary was working for animal health companies, selling to vets/ farmers etc pharma products.

I decided against it in the end as couldnt really afford to take a drop in wages (maybe Im wrong though and some equine companies do pay more??). I now work as an Account Manager in a supply chain company and work from home. It suits me down to the ground as the money is great, but I literally run my own business unit so can chose when to work... hence you'll find me down the stables in daylight!!

Doubt I earn the same as a city worker, but the OP asked for sales type equine jobs. Personally I'd rather do a job I enjoy for less money than be a wage slave chained to a desk, been there done that & it was awful.
