My mares are brilliant and stay put when told, but my 2 1/2yo colt.. Not a chance!!!
He generally likes to find new ways of escaping from his stable, and then I get the blame for leaving the door unlocked, which I didn't!
Also I get the blame for not tying him up properly, which I do!
He can undo door bolts when and as he feels like, unless the door is VERY heavy and weighs down onto the bolt, or the bolts handle is facing up rather than down. (He hasn't quite figured this one out yet!)
He knows EXACTLY how to snap string, turn sideways, head to chest and PULL!
Also he chews my leadropes, knowing eventually it will snap!!
And finally if his headcollar isn't done up tight, when he's tied up he will put his head down, loop the leadrope behind his ears / headcollar and pull back.. Pulling his headcollar clean off!!
Every time he 'breaks free' he just stands there looking at me as if to say.. "Look mum, look what I did!! I'm sooo clever
"
I think he's a bit too clever for his own good, don't you?
