Doe's anybody elses horse kick out at feed time?

Fly kicks out when he eats in his stable even though there is no one near him. I think he was probably reared using the "barn" system until he was a 2yo so feels he has to defend his food. Trouble is, he keeps kicking through the kick boards of the stable and I worry that he will injure his legs (not to mention wreck the stable). Today my husband put 2 Cow mats onto the back wall and guess what, ......... he promptly turned round and kicked through the side wall! Good job the stable is wood I suppose or I would have a serioulsy lame horse.

She has to have the side partitions of her stable covered up so that her neighbours can't dare to look in to her stable while she's eating- even her haynet!

She'll take time out of guzzling her dinner to lunge and pull faces at them too. No idea what has made her like this, my husband says I'm the same if he asks to share food from my plate though?!

Yes, mine does, hindlegs going like windmills. But since I've had his shoes removed he definately doesn't do it with such ferocity, and now rarely makes contact with the stable walls.
 
Our TB did this when we first got her, she was often in a barn with other youngsters. She did it in the stable and when eating hay in the field, realy bizzare, she looked totaly normal, head down munching away, then just kicking a hind leg out every few seconds. Good news is that after a few months she got the idea that it wasnt neccessary.
