I live in East Anglia and have always wanted hack my horses in some of the lovely picturesque parts of the country (especially those with hills, something East Anglia doesn’t have!). I can’t afford to rent cottages and stables, but would love to rent a paddock/field for a long weekend. The idea would be to park my lorry and stay in it for the weekend and have a small amount of grazing for my horses. It would be preferable to have immediate off road riding or easy access to good hacking. If you have or know of somebody who may be willing to rent me an acre or two for a weekend please, please get in touch. As I am in the East, I don’t really want to travel the horses to Scotland, Cornwall, or west coast of Wales, but am open to any ideas! Thank you

Thanks for the offer, but am really thinking ahead to next year, when hopefully the sun will shine:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Mandwhy, where abouts are you? I'm also in Cambridge!

There are places like Cranborne (In dorset) which has literally miles of offroad riding, and breathtaking views.. And there are many 'Horse B&Bs' around that area.. If i had the money (And a horse) i would go there!! :)

I would love to be able to do B&B, cottage etc. but just can't afford to do that, plus the cost of getting there, so need as cheap as chips. We stay in Thetford forest and at Holkham beach where we can stay in our lorry or tent and the horses get a paddock, and it makes it affordable to do both at least once if not twice a year, but would love now to go further afield and have some proper hills. Would love to do the Dales, New Forest, or even the Welsh mountains, but if anybody knows of good riding elsewhere happy to take advice.

We have found B & B for the horse (stable though not field) by generally just googling riding schools or livery yards in a particular area and ringing and asking.

I have a friend who has a big house on the foot of the Ridgeway and Uffington white horse.
there is a livery yard there and plenty of land so I am sure she would rent you a few acres or a stable or 2.

Hi Owlie185 - any chance of any hills where you are? Might be an idea to start close? Won't be till next year, not that I'm a fair weather rider, but the thought of staying in an old draughty lorry in the winter doesn't appeal!!
