Has anybody got these boots for their horses? What are they like and are they worth the price you pay? Thinking of getting some for my 17.0hh dutch warmblood, do you think the large or x-large boots would fit him?

Thanks in advance

the ones with the foam inside? i like them because they don't hold the water. I think mine are leather on the outside as they are an old version. I also got them cheap at badminton.

sorry no idea on size as mine is 14.2, chunky bone, he just fits a small round in front (has short cannon bones) and would need a medium behind

I had (stupidly sold with last horse

) the sheepskin lined ones and they were absolutely awesome!

They were really protective as the sheepskin afforded real 'shock absorption' from knocks and also stopped grit/sand/mud getting up inside them- I will buy some more when my youngster is sound and back in work

I have the N.E.W lightweight competition ones which are excellent. I use them regularily for eventing and they offer really decent protection whilst staying flexible. They still look brand new after I wash them and I've had them about 3 years now! I would think on yours the X-large may be better. My 16hh TB x (slim legs) wears larges.

I bought my bay a full set of the N.E.W. Cross Country Boots Airoflow - LOVE them.... does what it says on the tin! I have had mine for a couple of years, in XC season I am usually out every weekend, wash the boots in washing machince after - come up brand new! Would defo buy another set, definitely worth the pennies in my opinion xx

I'd get XL, I have large on my 16.1 TB, but actually I think they may have shrunk recently in the machine as they don't fit all the way round his legs.

I was very lucky and given a new pair of the fleece lined boots this summer when a lady at the yard was told by the vet that her horse would only ever be field sound so she had no use for them.
I did have the lightweight boots but this summer at Solihull Novice my mare left a leg at a fence and when I got back to the lorry I discovered she had sliced the boot and had a cut underneath thie boot. I would definitely choose the fleece lined ones for extra protection and my 17HH warmblood has front and hinds in large but she is not a particularly chunky warmblood.

i have the foam lined ones as i hunt so didn't want stuff getting stuck in the fleece and the airoflow ones dont give quite the same level of protection. i got them on special at Badminton this yr. they still look fab. one of the overreach boots has some stitching coming undone though which is a bit annoying after not that long.
