Hello everybody,

Am currently looking for a new horse, planning on going to Abbey Glen stables, yorks near Doncaster/Sheffield at the weekend to look at a couple and wondered if anybody knew them??

Seem great over the phone, but thought it was worth asking as have been caught out once already!! Please pm me if you prefer!

Also, in current market what would you expect to pay for a cobby 15.2 ish alrounder??

Thanks!!

This dealers has been mentioned on previous posts if you want to look back through the older ones (think they changed their name) or google them.

Yes i was once part of lowfield stables and i have still retained the same mobile number (my number)- Please check if you like and the same website. Abbey Glenn was the name of the house/yard prior to me moving there and as we often get confused with another dealer with a similar sounding name it made sense for Abbey Glenn to continue to be used. Lowfield Stables was run by two people. We have now parted company and the partnership has been dissloved. I have new premises, and live on site. I have genuine references and you are quite welcome to speak to customers who have actually bought from me! Alot of my horses are vetted. Unlike some other dealers i welcome vets/trainers/horsey friends on site to all my equines. I allow repeat visits (even unannounced)! I do not see people who want to come 3 or 4 times as timewasters as some people do! to make sure that the horse is suitable for them. Buying a horse is a big commitment. I allow any of my customers to try a horse/pony in as many different situations as they wish. I have customers that are now friends and do a lot of repeat business to the same yards, family and friends and riding schools. I welcome anyone on this site to come and see any of my horses, how they are kept and treated. I have recently sold a horse to a senior vet lecturer at Liverpool Leahurst Vet Hospital who will also give me a glowing reference ( this cob was vetted full 5stage by the very best).

So all i can say is, Make your own minds up! I had a customer just before christmas who was put off coming to me by another certain dealer. To cut along story short she eventually came as liked the look of him so much, came 3 times ( with horsey friend then Instructor ) had him vetted, took him home and loves him to bits!!!This is a genuine customer and sue will be very happy to give a reference!

I will not get into to tit for tat about other dealers, what they sell, who they buy from, post on internet forums etc. That is their business, i could say a lot but i don't!!! I am not vindictive and do not need to get a big wooden spoon out to sell my horses !!

Hi Liz ( Dobbin 27), Good luck with you and Wellie! I am sure you will be having loads of fun! Have seen pic on other forum, want to see some of him and you in the saddle! lol. He,s a lovely chap!

Hi Yes,
Don't touch them with a barge poll. I am trying to get my money back at present for a horse that is totally unsuitable. I have just started court proceedings.

HI

I have recentley bought a haflinger from Michelle ,I didient see this horse or try it out and she is everything Michelle said she is a super star ............I have also bought from Michelle before and the mare I had was fantastic as well ,I reccomend Abby Glen Stables to any one looking for a horse or pony as she is so honest and a really good friend .

Most dealers would tell you anything to get a sale but not Michelle , She ALWAYS makes sure rider and horse are well suited ,I am more than happy with my new mare .

She has always been some one you can trust

Thanks to all of you at Abby Glen for all your help ,I am a very happy horse owner !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lots of strangers here...(both for and against)....funny that....

I have never used either dealers mentioned but what I would says is...buying either privately or via a dealer.....buyer beware, you are buying an animal not a car with a warranty....it can be a minefield out there...but cautious, go and see and make your own mind up.

IMO...you are just as likely to be done over by a private seller as a dealer...after all, dealers have a reputation to make and maintain.......

i know michelle fairly well and shes put up with me loitering round her yard many times, wot i can say is that all her horses are well kept and she will tell you exactly what she knows about them

Just to let you all know that Eclipse also has a new home! She is lovely and is settling in nicely with her new pals (or soon to be pals!). We were really happy to have found Michelle at Abbey Glenn stables. Say what youlike about traders, Michelle knows her ponies inside and out. Eclipse was with her for two months and they took their time, care and put in lots of hard work to bring her on and get her ready for a new home. Lots of ponies coming and going, but all are treated with love, care and as individuals, which in my opinion is the best way. I would reccomend Abbey Glenn any time. Michelle let us spend time with Eclipse and didn't make us feel we were too demanding or wasting her time. Michelle welcomed the vet and Eclipse passed her 5 stage vetting without a hitch to the relief of both myself and Michelle. We are sooooo happy! And Eclipse is a very special girl!

I have been interested reading this thread as I came across it by chance whilst trying to access the website. to Chrissy above I saw Eclipse on the video and I too thought she looked a gorgeous horse, so glad she is working out for you she looks amazing! Can anyone help me with the website please? I just get a blank page now,
