....my friend's horse has an odd habit and I'm curious as to why she does it!
She's a 9 y/o (I think!) ID x TB 16.2hh chestnut mare and she is a lovely horse, a joy to ride and very good nature.
However, if you give her a treat in the stable she will eat the treat - then bite her stable door 2-3 times afterwards. She doesn't suck at it, just bites it. If she's in the field she does the same with the gate then wanders off. She doesn't do this at any other time, not after her feed or her nets - just makes me curious!

forgot to add...
If you're in the middle of the field and leave her with a treat (like after I put her fly rug on her today) she doesnt bother going to find something to bite either its not like she HAS to do it...just if its there she will without fail!!
She is odd!
Both of them are, we can't have normal horses between us!

No ideas why I'm afraid, but my horse licks the fence/ stable door/ wall/ someone's hand/ his own leg (!) after every treat or bucket feed. This is without fail, and goes on for a good couple of minutes. If you try to distract him or move him away he is very reluctant to do so!

Horses, eh?!

Aren't they odd??!?
She's not always done it - after she's bitten the cold metal gate she gives us this look as though to say "what did you let me do that for??" :p
