Does anybody own a Gatehouse H.S.1 Riding Helmet?

I have one - the special edition silver one and I LOVE it!! It is so so comfortable and looks good which is a bonus!

I would definitely recommend them I feel very safe in mine

My OH got a silver one yesterday! He said they are supposed to be one of the safest/strongest ones on the market - came with a lovely padded hat bag aswell!

I have one, and whilst initially horrified by the price (I normally buy charles owen kids skull caps for £40), it is very comfortable, does not move on my head at all (which is more than can be said of other hats even when properly fitted) and is very light.

I bought one after doing a lot of research into safety standards - this came out on top - and it was only after I bought it I realised it seems to be the height of fashion in the eventing world at the moment.

oh thats great thanks!
where did you get yours from?
Yeap i've had a few nasty falls in mine so i think seeing as i want to event it's best to invest in a good hat!?

Bought a new hat for Bee recently, the HS1 just didn't fit, it was too square for her head. Ended up with a ventair instead as it is a more oval fit.

Just remember no matter how safe a hat is it is no good if it doesn't fit properly.

Quite agree though - I was so impressed with the HS1 as it is the first hat that has fitted perfectly, and I like it so much I will replace my other hat with one at some point. I would always recommend going to a tack shop and getting it fitted though because Thistle is right, no matter how fashionable or safe they are, if they don't fit, what's the point?

They do come up very small-I ordered one in my correct size, only to find the HS1 was teeney, so went to sadddlers to have a larger size fiited and ended up looking like I was wearing a massive mushroom-not attractive, so I saved some money and brought a Champion Ventair which fits like a glove and is fab!

Funny, mine is exactly the same size as all my other hats and I nearly bought one a size smaller, but tried on the bigger one too and preferred the feel. Think this comes back to needing to get them fitted professionally not buying off the web.

True-I wouldn't have known that it just didn't suit the shape of my head if I hadn't and had one fitted and tried quite a few sizes on.
Another thing about the HS1-it is bulky and I think looks quite cumbersome-especially with the seat belt like chin strap. Purely asthetic, but I like my skull hats alittle more streamline-obviously just so I can go faster xc...

Just been looking at those GPA hats and i really cant believe someone would fork out £550 on a riding helmet

I know its 'carbon fibre' or something, but god - does anyone actually buy those stupidly expensive ones???

Honestly, it is only the lack of a Devocoux breastplate which stops me winning every event we enter, I swear!
