It is made of semi rigid rubber shaped like a ball and you stuff the hay through the bars, meant to be much easier than conventional haynets? They come apart under pressure so apparently safe.

Just wondered if anybody has comments.

Yes, I used a couple of hayballs before I got my haybars. Worked OK but a pain to fill I found. I don't think they work for every horse and I wouldn't rave about them. The haybars, on the other hand, are fantastic and good for the neds as they're feeding in a natural position.

i have not used one but heard of them you just stuff them with hay and tie them up like an hay net they come in different sizes when they finish there hay it acts like a toy coz it does not collape and stays in a ball shape!

Will stick to haylage nets then. Ours are gannets in the stable and eat humongous amounts very quickly. The haylage nets mean they have to work a bit. I also like to put two nets up in different places so's they move round a bit.

sound interesting, are they expensive ?. I put 2 nets up to make him move round unfortunately he stands still till he finishes the first one then stands still at the next one. also got him haybar for mess free natural feeding. he takes all the hay out the haybar puts it on the floor then eats it from there. stupid horse.

I didn't know you could still get hayballs. We used to use them for 3 horses. They were easy to fill, but because of the huge gaps, the horses got through the hay v. fast and it fell out around the place. I also have a lasting memory of my old chap getting his head stuck in it, and looking at me in a calm and pathetic manor until I got him out! They are however flexible and come apart easily so I would say safer than a haynet.

How come you've changed your name - are you hiding from someone?
