I'm considering putting my saddle on e-bay, it is a x-wide, 16inch meadow creak GP, it absolutly excellent condition, only 1 year old, the only damage is few scratches on cantle. I want to ask £450, do you think people would be interested???

I did and am very pleased with it, but I only bid because it was local, a private seller and I could pay cash on collection so could double check it was as described before handing cash over.

I have bought and sold.

Picked up a beautiful Albion saddle the other day for not very much money at all.

If you are selling - put a reserve on it and no starting price. You'll get far more interest that way. However, do make your reserve realistic.

i have, once. wasnt the size it was supposed to be, but was a nice saddle and a bargain, so kept it as it might come in handy. it did, it fitted a later horse for a while, then i was offered £150 MORE than id paid for it in part-ex by a saddler

Do you think too expensive for e-bay then?

I've got my saddler coming in 2 weeks and I know my saddle does not fit as my mares shape has changed dramaticly, so he will look at it anyway but he's bringing some new wintecs

I might ask him if he wants to buy it off me, or advertise in local tack shops.

We did but I wanted a very specific jumping saddle that was difficult to come by I phoned many saddlers throughout the UK first. The saddle was local to us but I would have gone ahead anyhow and used paypal as it gives you some security. In our case paypal held onto the money until we had left positive feedback.

It may be worth seeing if this will happen in your case as it sounds a bit dodgy from the sellers point of view. I think it is when the item is over a set amount and the seller has below a certain level of feedback or too many negatives.

I've sold a Wintec GP and a Black Country GP on Ebay. I got a good price for the Wintec, but I didn't get nearly what a saddler had told me the Black Country was worth. However, as I didn't get any interest in it locally I thought I was as well to get something for it rather than have it cluttering the tack room!

I have bought 2 saddles. I wintec GP for my youngster which had the cair system and adjustable and an Isabell Werth dressage saddle again with cair and adjustable.

Saddles can be great from Ebay but I would always only buy from someone with 100% feedback and a longish standing ebay seller/member.

I have sold 2- a DH dressage and a stubben, but not for the money you want---- saying that it was more than any saddler would offer me....

I've bought 4 saddles from eBay, and now sold 4 on there, but did have the problem of saddles being returned when they don't fit. They were a buy it now, which means the buyer has a right to return (but of course I get a good price)

You probably won't get as much as you want, for example I bought a dressage wow for £650 and they cost £1,500. So if in good nick, halve the price you paid and then further deductions for the less well known names.

Yes, I did.
Our gelding had a 17'' medium Pessoa. When we bought the mare, his saddle fitted her so I started looking for another 17'' medium Pessoa. I bought an immaculate one off ebay. Cost £520 so not a bargain but I am really pleased with it.
I requested extra photos and the seller had a good, long history.

i sold my last one privately in the end. it wasnt fetching much on Ebay and luckily someone saw it advertised on a forum and took it for the asking price i wanted!

i would only buy on ebay if the specific make/model i need comes up in correct size, saddler has told me what i need and what will/wont fit so am always keeping an eye out.
