Come on, there must be some positive reviews! especially now I've just purchased one :D . I have a jump saddle for my hunter, as he is awkward to fit and nothing seemed right, either tipping back, lifting at the back or bridging. Honestly, we tried everything, this fitted like a glove and was balanced. However, all I have found online is "it crippled my horse" and I really don't want that again, after my jeffries made him really sore!

Bad reviews welcome, but positive ones preferred ;) I will be getting it adjusted.

I rode in one for an owner which had been"fitted" by an official SC fitter. The saddle itself was dreadful with failing stitching (a hole at one point), poor quality leather and it didn't fit the horse at any point.

I understand that leather quality has improved and that a new manufacturer has been found but my OH used to work in the saddlery industry and was appalled at it.

Oh interesting. I know someone who swears by em, has all her horses in them and my friends just bought one. They seem v expensive but my mate really liked the fit. Early days yet so don't know how it rides.

I have jumping and dressage saddles of this variety. For one of my thoroughbreds I just could not get it fitted to him and he hated it, but with my other thoroughbred they were easy to fit to and he is happy and goes really well in them.

It is rather unfortunate that when you view the lists of "New Threads" this thread comes out as "Does anyone actually like Sue Carson" unintended I am sure :D

A friend had one made. It was one of the accredited fitters who came out, but when fitted it did not fit. I think they re-did it to her satisfaction (not sure if they made another or just took at one away for a re-make), but I am not sure why, but a bit later she had a different brand of saddle, so I guess she did not like it that much.

It would bother me that you are tied in to the company for re-fits, as (when I enquired at least) it was a different fitting to the Flair system of air bags, and they did not want to sell the pumps with the correct fitting for the saddle.

I spoke to the company at Your Horse Live, or it may have been an event, and I had a sit on a dressage one and did think they were comfortable. I also liked that the tree points were set back, so as not to interfere with the shoulder, even on the jump models.

Do they still have air bags instead of flocking? I picked one up and ran my hand along the panels and could feel a definite lump where the front and rear air bags met, which I didn't think was a good thing to have on a horse's back just where the rider's weight would be.

I have a Merlin dressage saddle which is designed for the petite rider as I am only five foot 2". Its a really nice quality saddle and fits my mare lovely. I hav ethe semi deep seated version.

Whoops... Apologies to Sue Carson :o I didn't mean to make a personal attack :D
I know lots of people have commented on the quality, but mine feels great quality and the panels are so soft. I am having a Sue Carson saddler out (nearly died at the price compared to my other saddler! And I expect fees will be on top) as it needs widening to fit perfectly, the tree shape is right but it's not quite 100% ,and the Flair needs to be adjusted. Not sure if I will stick with hit however, it will do for now as he just can't handle hard panels and needs something soft, everything else we tried was like rock. The panels are huge at the back and not to my taste, but he moved so well in it. Aiming to get another one custom made but that could take 3 months to arrive.

I've ridden a horse in a dressage one and couldn't stand how much I was held by it. Knee blocks were huge and seat felt very deep. Definitely wouldn't have fallen off anything but I could barely move! But then I like small blocks and half deep seats ;) saddle itself seemed ok if a little worse for wear.

I know people who have air in front and flock in the back. I sure they do full flock as well.

All Flair/WOW saddles with four air bags have this issue. I always use a wool lined cloth for this reason, or a thin gel pad.

My new 2016 panels are a lot better than my older ones.

For me, the auto-weight-dispersal and adjustability outweigh the airbag overlap every time.

I guess its the same as anything though, a lot of people only comment on bad things and don't often post about the good!!
Im just about to sell my Sue Carson actually, Im gutted. Ive loved it for years but it was bought to fit my old horse - which it was perfect on. But my current horse has grown some big shoulders as she has got older and it no longer suits her. But saddles and saddles... thats the whole thing, you’ve just got to find one that suits don't you. Ive loved mine, I hope you have good success with yours!
