Daughers will be competing RC and PC team events this year and have seen the JW Jump jackets and think they will be more comfortable with body protectors than formal show jackets.

They are advertised as "Jump Jacket is the only jacket endorsed by the BSJA that can be worn in competitions other than a traditional jacket"

But is RC and PC more stuffy than BJSA!!?? (was thinking navy or black) Have you seen anyone wearing on Comps?

PC rule book mentiones "traditional" but was probably written yonks ago.

thanks x

I've never seen anyone jump PC in a technical jacket, and since they don't like sparkly hats or things like that I would imagine they are not big fans of the technical jackets unless they're the nice ones which look like normal jackets but are made of stretchy stuff...

I know the RC I'm in doesn't allow them, and I don't think any others in the area does. I highly doubt PC does.

Our pc is very straight on traditional clothing, and would not allow team members to wear those jackets. Most PC teams have to do a turnout section too..

I've ridden in riding club for years on teams at qualifiers, and never been allowed to wear mine. Not sure whether that's just my RC rules of BRC's. not sure about normal non qualifiers though.

fabulously the BRC rulebook download only seems to take me to the contents but it will be on page 87. Shouldn't expect anything less of them really

PC & RC are stuck in the dark ages with dress. I was asked to fill in on a RC sj team event, turned up with rather expensive Equiport jacket, navy with pale pink pin stripe, pink collar & buttons plus matching Protector hat. Team manager nearly had a heart attack & said "This is the RC not the BSJA you know" , so had to scurry off & dig out ancient plain navy jacket & velvet hat, so now looked like I was going hunting.

Haven't bothered with RC since, though jumped 2 clears & team came 2nd which I thought was more important than my jacket!!

Being an old fogey can you please explain what a "technical" jacket is. Also what is technical about it?

It's the thin, stretchy material. They can look quite nice if you're stick thin and they're cut properly like normal jackets.
