does anyone else enjoy winter?

It is depressing!

I love a good cold crisp and sunny day, lovely hacks as the mist is clearing but in all honesty these moments are short lived and over shadowed by MUD!

I hate the MUD, hate having to keep him in when the weather is really foul. I hate the darkness. I hate hacking in the dark, getting up in the dark, going to work in the dark, coming home in the dark.......

Basically I hate the dark and mud LOL

Also take a look at the colour of my horse.......I kiss that goodbye in Oct and don't see it again until April

I love it

I love clipping
I love having a huge straw bed
I love layering rugs on horsey
I love giving her LOADS of food
I love hacking out first thing in the morning when its really cold
I love seeing all the horseys in at night
I just love winter!

I love the clipping, rugging , seeing them all snug.

Hat the days when they come in soooo muddy, the short days, cold feet and hands, trying to wash down after hunting without your horse freezing.

But I love seeing my smartly clipped horse alls nug in his clean thick straw bed until the morning of mucking out

I think I would love it IF mine were stabled (so all clean and dry) and I had an indoor school to ride in (or even just an outdoor surface..... or even just some floodlights in my paddock would be nice!).

However I keep all mine out 24/7 (they do have stables but I prefer to let them choose so just leave the doors open into their paddocks). So I have to put up with MUD!

HATE dealing with wet, muddy turnout rugs
HATE having to wade through mud ALL winter
HATE having consistenly filthy horses
HATE trying to make the filthy horses clean for events when its too cold to wash them!
HATE having freezing fingers all the time
HATE having to try and defrost the hose pipe
HATE it that my horses are sharper. One of mine is a spooky, flighty bas*ard in the winter!

I do however actually like it if its snowy or there's a hard frost so there's no mud....! That's when its pleasant!

I love winter too! Well I hate the mud and the rain, but IMO there's nothing better than to go out on a ride when there's a frost on the ground, a clear blue sky, and I'm all wrapped up! Although most of the things I love about winter will be missing this year, ie. the snuggy rugged clipped horse, making her bed in her stable nice and thick, banking it around the doorway when snow or wind is forecast, etc. as she's going to be out naked in a field all winter! Now that I will hate! But no poo picking this winter for me (well not a lot, only Cookie's field) as Maiden's field is eight acres-ish and I'd die of exhaustion if I even attempted it! Also I won't have the heavy wet muddy rugs to contend with either, which is nice.
Oooooohhhhh I want to start shopping for winter now, I've been making a list of all the winter clothes I want from the new Rideaway catalogue! I just LOVE being all snuggy warm!

I don't mind too much...not keen on mud but that soon dries again. Love crisp cold mornings when my horse steams up the hills puffing air out like a steam train! And iced over spiders webs on the hedges are great. Love the hard cold frost and everything white and sparkling! Love putting my hand into my horses rug and feeling him all toasty and warm! I live in the country though and you would be mad not to love all the seasons as they are so different and have such different meanings...marvellous!

On balance, hate it. although I love clipped horses and big rugs I hate the fact that my horse is in 24/7.

Hate mucking out twice a day, stressing constantly about whether my horse is bored/has enough hay/has fresh water etc, cold fingers, cold toes, lugging buckets around, only getting to turn out twice a week in a mud pit, flooded schools, no outdoor showjumping, filthy tack, miserable obnoxious mean pony, ugh. I really think there is nothing in the world quite so wonderful as turning my pony out in a big green field and watching her meander across the field to join her mates. Bliss.

Am currently on a waiting list for a DIY spot at a livery yard with winter T/O so fingers crossed a space will come up for us before the fields shut.

Winter is positively my favourite season, as long as it is frosty enough to harden up the mud. Love sleepy horses in their stables in the mornings, crisp rides out, clipped horses, fresh springy beds and putting them to bed at night - in fact it could be winter all year round for me

Hated it with a vengeance in the UK, months of grey days and rain, mud, mud and more mud, with 24 hours of slushy snow thrown in for good measure. My bones ached and I suffered terribly from SAD.

Here, I LOVE IT. I am irritatingly happy, and ache free. The blue skies, sunshine and sparkly snow make up for the odd ice storm and blizzard. I don't even mind the minus C temperatures at all, and I find it ridiculously amusing that I can put skates on and skate over my fields after an ice storm, or go for a mile down the creek. Horses all live out so no mucking out either

although this year I must remember to take out all electric fence posts before it freezes solid.

I don't do heat very well, so summer has been a bit of a trial for me, never mind, it is quite short.
