my so called freind has brought a pony to bring on he is 3years old jst broken 13.2 something like that and she is bringing it on to sell .... but she really is kinda clueless on how to bring the poor pony on to a good standard .... she is at a equine college thing and its just really upsets me to see the poor pony and the way it is goin .... she looks as though she isnt riding him forwards at all and really holding him in the mouth .... she has already been thrown off him about 3times no suprises there tbh

sorry it just upsets me to think why do people buy ponies when they seriously havent got a clue on bringing a baby on

Why dont you give her support through this project? Help her to understand what she needs to do to bring the horse on, encourage her, show her the way forwards with it, She is probably feeling likes shes bitten off more than she can chew, and Youll be amazed what kind words of encouragment do for self esteeem.

Yes I agree, kind words of encouragement is all well and good but most people don't want them cause they think they know better!!!

I think the key thing is for everyone to try their best, and keep learning as they go along, not to wait until we achieve perfection before we ride.

my friend and i heard of a young girl who bought a 6 month old foal with no experience of youngsters and basic riding skills, very novice. She was being bullied on her yard by know it all owners and pony being hit by YO when mis-behaving. After about a minute of consideration we asked her to move him to our yard. Pony and girl now very happy and with a bit of help and guidance i'm sure they will be fine. He's going to be a chunky welsh d type and we think somewhat challenging but boy is he affectionate. Young girl already has him halter trained, leading round, and picking up all four feet just by tapping his fetlock twice! (he's now 10 months old, and better trained in the feet department than my 10yo arab!!) point being, kind people, support and encouragement and there is no need for this to be a negative situation!
I myself have limited youngster (well this young anayway!)knowledge but have been asking a work colleague for advice when needed.

Yup seem to be doing well know, baby is healthy and happy and in a routine with worming, farrier etc. Girl is much happier and is now having some lessons on my friends mare, and much to her enjoyment even had a quick sit on my arab. Fingers crossed its a happy ending! plus we have a lovely new livery
