My dog hates the rain and cold and even though he is fleeced up he still behaves like Princess tippitoes when asked to go out.

This is a dog who cocks his leg off the back doorstep rather than go out.

Anyone else struggle to get their dogs out in bad weather.

JRT, 1 of the staffies and the whippet would much rather stay inside and snuggle thanks...BUT as the hyperactive others demand walkies twice a day come rain or shine (including the 17 year old mutt!!!!) then they all go out if they like it not!!!! If I have to get wet then so do the WHOLE pack!!!;)

Our old greyhounds would never go out in the rain. Some days if it was raining all day then they wouldn't get a walk because the minute they saw it was raining that's it, they would plant their feet and wouldn't move an inch

my two go out in all weathers ,my black whippy prefers the colder weather than the hot,the pup at times will pee on the patio than go futher up the garden..would have to harden her up a bit lol

Mine will go out in it but not through their choice lol. Yet they don't think twice about cold, muddy puddles!!!

Saying that, my best friend has a JRT I bred and he loves swimming but isn't keen on the rain and dodges puddles! Sense?

Nope! Us dogs (two terriers) don't do rain either! We prefer to do our whoopsies in the stable for mum to clear up after rather than brave the elements.

And as for traipsing up to wet fields and bringing horses in; no way! Warm Rayburn is infinitely more comfy.

Its tipping down with rain here at the mo; a quick p!ddle outside the back door and its back to the warmth!

My Pointer will go out in the rain but once he stops running around and playing he will stand and shiver till he's dried off.

My Boxer since getting a bit older has to be dragged off his bed to go to the yard and most of the time decides he doesnt want to go back down the yard. He doesnt shiver like the pointer does though.

I have a labby who wont go out in the rain, LOL. She does live in Spain with my dad now so thats probably why. She has no problems with going in the sea, or the swimming pool, but has to be dragged outside for a wee when its raining. Shes a bit of a fairy, dont think shed cope with the UK much!!

Makes no difference to either of mine, Pads looks a bit miserable in it but I don't get away with just a short walk either - once you're wet you're wet, be it 5 mins or 2 hours :)

OH's rottie has to be physically removed from the house to the garden if it's raining! Pansy

Kensa will jump every muddy puddle she can when we're out shooting and if she really really has to stand in one she will perch on three legs lol :D

Tyson loves the rain, cold and wet are his faves but Bryony HATES anything wet! She has to be dragged outside for a wee before I go to bed in the evnings when its raining!

Jake would put his head through the dog flap and check the weather before venturing out into the garden. Funnily, the rain never bothered him on walks!

Both puppies are complete wusses and tried to drag me back into the house yesterday when I was taking them to the car.

I'm so glad mine is not the only one who hates bad weather. Like others though he will happily paddle in the sea and have a warm bath but clearly water from the sky is totally different:D

Beans refuses to leave the house if it is raining, will not go in mud and thinks snow is the work of the devil. She often has duvet days, if I try & get her up early or she sees it's a bit chilly, blowy or drizzly. A gratuitous picture of her in her natural environment:

Oh how supercute is she. My mum had a white BT called Molly but sadly she died last year, she also didn't like the wet.

Quite one of the best things about bull terriers is their devotion to home comforts ,and the avoidance of rain/sleet..puddles/rivers etc.Highly sensible dogs that make great footrests or hot water bottles under the duvet. Highly addictive though,so stay well clear if you don`t want to become an addict:D

My relatives are horrified by Beans, they are spaniel & hound people. They prefer dogs which spend all day getting wet & muddy & then come indoors & steam gently whilst getting underfoot.

Beansy never smells, the only downside to having such an inert creature is her nails which are like cashew nuts & don't get worn down enough - she doesn't like walking on really stony ground either, it hurts her toes, she likes carpet.

My border collie will happily go for a walk in the rain, loves swimming and jumping in puddles but won't go out for a wee in the rain or dark- she just stands on the step huddled up to the door.

If it's really foul, I will get a look that says 'Really??? In this???!' as we leave the house. But once we're out he has a blast no matter what the weather is doing:)

July and August, the thermometer did not dip below 95 degrees, and Stella was in her element. Bostons aren't supposed to do well in hot weather, but this one thrives on it. While my pug/SIL's Lab X struggled to walk half an hour in the mornings, Stella only started panting after an hour!

Skip forward to winter and she's miserable. She does not mind the rain, but she hates the snow and ice. I've tried to let her go without coats etc., but she shakes as soon as it gets below 45; below 35 and coat-less--and I'm talking duck down, not some pansy little jacket--she won't walk at all.

The pug is the opposite: awful in summer, adores winter. One day last winter, I took him for a walk. It must have been -20c that day, and rather than run around the park to stay warm, he sat on a bench, stuck his nose in the air, and luxuriated in the frigid wind.

Yes, my yorkie x doesn't like the bad weather, she is house trained but when winter comes we start having puddles in the kitchen, happens every year. She is fine during the day and out on walks, its just in the evenings.

Yes! JRT who hates to go outside when it is wet and / or cold - she has to be tipped out of her bed sometimes! However, one mention of walk / car / lorry / ball/ rabbit / mouse / rat / etc and she transforms into the hardiest little terror!
