Whenever you go round to brush Tessy bears tail or brush her legs she farts at you, not a little one either a long, loud embarrassing thing. So when we go showing and everyone is there with their posh horses i will be st on my little farting cow pony who 'wubbs' at anyone that passes :p

Anyone else have a horse with a weird habit ? Im sure we would have to market the farting as a vice ... its deadly ;)

None of mine - well none that I find weird or embarassing. Maybe that says more about me than anything else lol!!
My friends horse has a really weird habit- he chews stones. You can hear it rattling about in his mouth. He does drop them well as far as we are aware he drops them all.

Mine is a serial nuzzler and licker. It scares the unsuspecting as she will trot over to you and go straight for your face to wibble her lovely rubbery lips all over it :D

I've had horses that are a bit mouthy and lick a bit before, but nothing like this! She had OH against the fence the other day, wibbling all over his face. She is very well behaved and backs up when you tell her, but he couldn't do anything for laughing :D

Mine has an obsession with water!! When she is drinking out of the trough she will literally shove half her head in & creates a mini tidal wave for a couple of minutes before having a drink ( have been soaked many a time)

I have come across a lot of horses that do this, fart when you do their hind quarters. I have often wondered if there is an acupuncture point that I stimulate while grooming. It's either that or a horse with a vile sense of humour....

I can't think of anything my two do off the top of my head but my friends horse likes to suck on the green algie out of the field water trough. It actually makes me feel sick lol

Well not really disgusting but he:
Dunks everything into his water trough - hay, chunks of grass ect.
Likes to nibble everything - and by nibble I don't mean any use of teeth - your butt if your picking out his hoofs, t-shirts, boots, everything!
He mugs anyone who has anything that rustles - he just automatically thinks its food.

My companion pony will wee in his feed bucket if you leave it in his stable, and he will undo his door chain and go for a wandar about the yard when he feels like it :)

Mine let's out farts when you pick out his back feet which is very annoying and smelly! He also has a thing for toggle cords that are on jackets or jumpers and pulls them till they are uneven or come out the jacket.

Ned is pretty un-icky, but my dog!! Good lord.

She has a problem with her nose (vet said she always will, not causing her any harm) but she has what we call "Gremlins" a lot.
A lovely green slimy snot string that hangs from her nose almost constantly! She produces extra big ones when we have guests.

Wave a marewho backs up to my OH and then lifts one back leg (for easy access) so he can pick the dirt between her teats. He finds it a tad embarrassing when she does it in front of other people!!

Mine deliberately rolls in poo in the field - he searches out a pile, scatters it by pawing at it, then gets down and rolls in it......

And yes, he is also a grey - what joy!

Mine does exactly the same, before I even touch him! Fart, fart, fart! He's recently developed a strange urge to groom my leg, quite hard, but only the damaged one. Weird!

Roo's new habit is to rush up to you in the field then cock his leg at you like a male dog about to pee on you  Rather disturbing thinking 16.2 of orangeness is about to pee on you but actually he wants his sheath and inner thighs scratches cos theyre itchy from fly bites.

My ISH nuzzles my face and hair, he also likes to try and wave his front legs around when I'm trying to pick his feet out!

My Appy has such a list I could go on forever! He's very nuzzly and likes to groom with me. He is also always looking in pockets for treats and tends to try and bite my phone through my pocket! He has also been known to undo coats, chaps, etc. Oh and when he has a drink he whizzes his top lip in circles if the water is a bit cold! The strangest one he has is probably that when he is out and it is raining he walks backwards whilst grazing!

I also used to know a horse who would throw his feed bucket over the door and down the yard once he had finished eating!

Because my horse cant neigh he has come up with different ways of communicating which generally involves lolling his tongue around- hald way up his face while pulling his top lip back and rolling his eyes - he is so attractive :P

My Arab gelding loves to lick my face and hands, then he will just stick his tongue out and loves having it sqeezed and will stand there in a trance for ages, when he is shown in hand he has been known to stick his tongue out whilst being stood up for the judge, its very entertaining and most people find it hilarious, his done it since he was a baby and I thought he might grow out of it but no still loves it and his 9 now.

Magic liked to lick things while staring at me intently.

Im not gonna lie, it was freaky.

Jessie&magic that picture is a classic her face just says it all, no wonder it freaked you out makes you wonder what was going through her mind.

Mine will just have a glazed over expression when his in licking mode.

Izzy likes to pretend to need a wee so he can have a sneaky eat. He only does it where there is some nice grass or clover. He stops, cocks one leg so it feels like he is going to wee. I stand in my stirrups and give him the rein, so he eats but just doesn't wee. I ask him to walk on, he does, then goes 'No, I definitely need a wee.' It totally feels like he is going to wee. After a few times at the same place he will have a wee. But will wee about 4 times on 3 hour hack. He is like a giant labrador. And he always seems to do it when we are next to people having a picnic, or walking next to us or some other embarrassing time.

Every time I go to get my mare from the field and I call to her she does a wee! This has gone on since I first got her about 9 years ago. T'is most odd!

Oh and, my Shetland gets very sexual with rubber buckets, despite being a gelding! My highland, in order to get grass under a fence, almost does the splits with his front legs, one in front of the other, then sticks his bum in the air and turns his neck and head underneath the leg that is forward to eat. He also leans down into hay piles with his bum in the air and front legs bent at the knee.

All of mine are a bit odd it seems!

My boy has so many gross/weird habits there are too many to list them all.

To name but a few:
He farts loudly and repeatedly when you are grooming his tail
He rolls in his own poo, including rubbing it all over his face
If you are standing near his head (and he likes you) he will gently nibble and lick your arms, hands and face
If you are standing near his stable but are not paying him what he deems to be enough attention he will dip his head into his water and try send as much of it as possible your way
He loves to chew on my hair if you give him half a chance
If he is bored when you are exercising him he will do exactly what you tell him to do...but he will do it backwards...
