Bug has kes a little 11hh Welsh A as a travelling companion, she travels fine on her own and is generally fine at a competion on her own, but we just find she is a little more relaxed back at the trailer with a friend. She pays no attention to him, she'll ride away from him fine, go do her thing and then return fine. Just likes her friend...:)

Think he likes it too, as he is 27 and retired in the most and likes the outing.:D

Just wondered if anyone else had a little friend for thier comp horses.

When my mare goes eventing we have to take her friend, or she stresses in the trailer. He is 17h though! He used to be a 4yr old when I was last eventing. Now he is 6 and will be working too when we next go!

Yes, when I was competing my stallion had a mini shetland travelling buddy.

All hell would break out if he had to travel alone.

Mini was a pain though, untie itself, wander about the wagon etc...
Once made it into the living area and chewed my lovely upholstery:)

Still, seemed to work, although it never made sense to me, as when we arrived he never once called out to the mini, and was happy to hack alone/work in alone at competitions!

One of mine was a superb traveller until a white van man decIded to drive into the side of the lorry with him inside. Very little damage but a big jolt and some very loud bangs occurred and for a while he was just a little stressy from having been a perfect traveller. So as I had a youngster intended to be an eventer I just used to load her on with him every time he went out. He still loaded perfectly so that was a good example for her and they seemed to give each other confidence whilst travelling. It was good for both of them.

When she went off eventing I used sometimes to load the Section A with him, almost out of habit really, he didn't need it but she loves travelling so why not?
