Hi,

My 14 year old chestnut gelding seems to have an issue with the rain!!!! Whenever he has been turned out in the all day whilst its been raining he will rear up whilst being lead in to his stable. He doesn't seem to do it maliciously and its not dangerous. He just rears right up, i tell him off (with my voice) He lands and then walks nicely. Its as if its his ways of expressing his annoyance.

Also does anyone have any tips to deter/train him out of rearing - and beating/hitting him is not an option.

Thanks

She doesn't rear or anything, but I have to empathize as Hobby hates the rain too!
As soon as it even starts to drizzle, her ears go back and she becomes even grumpier. She won't walk through puddles, and is an ******* to try to ride!

Does he do it in the same place each time? Is it one rear or a burst of them?

What halter are you leading him in?

Does he have any old injuries that would ache in the rain/cold?

Normally just one rear, has been 2 in a row a few times.

I just lead him in a normal headcollar because when its not been raining he will walk in like butter wouldn't melt!

I have only had him a year and as far as know he has no old injuries. The people i bought him off lied through their teeth about him and he had/has a few issues that we are working through.

Thanks
