Does anyone else's horse...

React to you in a very different manner to usual if you smell different? Mine does if I smell of other animals that he's not used to. He gets aggressive and looks confused, normally very sweet and loves attention.

Not that I've noticed. I get a cautious look if I have my hood up but she recognises my voice when I call out anyway.
Can understand them being wary of smell though, their sense of smell is so sensitive.

I have a hoody that all horses like to sniff and lick. Just that one hoody

Yup, I rode hunni, perfect mood, put her in stable, rode mums horse but had gloves on, finished her and went back to hunni she sniffed my hands and put her ears back at my gloves! I took them off and she was fine, then Again she does hate other horses 90% of the time

My young stallion reacts very differently if I wear certain perfumes -it's very common! Our old pony hates the smell when my husband has been shooting (cordite) and gets quite anxious,

I can't get near them once I've handled donkeys!

He doesn't mind perfume, used to wear it for work and he never bothered it's specifically when I'm pet sitting for other people. When I was dog sitting last year he was very aggressive and now cat sitting ( 30! ) he lashed out at the wall and was really jumpy and didn't want anything to do with me.
