It's the wrong story, but it's a compelling one. It's an easy one. The real one is complicated and messy. And the left are sh1t at storytelling, and social media has f8908cked people's critical thinking skills more than they were already.

The story is that immigrants/asylum seekers/refugees are taking everything away from you. Your values, your morals, your NHS, your taxes, everthing. And why should you let these people into your country?

The story isn't that the people sucking society dry are the capitalists getting rich off it. The story isn't that we should be a place that tries to help people fleeing war, famine, etc, because it's the right thing to do. The story is that they are taking your sh1t and making your society too woke.

The Master won, not the Doctor. At least it feels that way. But I still choose the Doctor.

However, one must query whether those with these attitudes should be seen as ‘failed’ by other individuals and institutions - by way of the explanation and excuse for such values.
Somewhere down the line adults have to take stock, and take responsibility for the significance and consequences of their attitudes and values - can’t hide behind, and cry ‘victim’ indefinitely, particularly not when you are actually victimising seriously vulnerable others.
Speaking of grown up responsibility and adult approach, did you manage to convert your rain sheet into a convincing Tardis?!
 
Yeah, I know. But when so many people, who seem like pleasant, decent people at an individual level, buy into the xenophobic, racist BS, you have to wonder where it's all gone wrong. It feels like something bigger than adults just 'not taking stock' or not taking responsibility.

I have been following Trina's cobs but I have unfollowed another person who has an excellent reputation for selling horses as alongside the horse sales posts I have had also had posts from her sharing posts spreading misinformation about the covid vaccine and similar. I respect everyone's right to their own opinion but this isn't something I want popping up on my Facebook feed.
 
I must be living in a cave as when I first saw the video of Yogi with his mane coloured and buying British produce I assumed it was part of the Back British Farming initiative but then was really disappointed to later see the more contentious political post. It is such a shame when professionals let their personal views colour their public persona but it wouldn't put me off buying a horse from her if it was the one I wanted.
 
Have seen her ad's & posts on FB and am interested (sort of). No idea what area of the country she's in tho', probably miles from me here in Devon. Her cobs are the sort of thing I'd be interested in if I was looking (which I am not currently).

Agree that it is woefully unprofessional to blab about your political beliefs on social media. I mean, who cares??

That's really interesting because one of her arguments is that the opinions of, eg, your GP etc etc aren't important and you'd still engage with them.
However, you are right - lots of people are fussy about who they do business with.
In general, I like to give business to companies that work 'ethically' (eg, I buy clothes from companies who make sure that the machinists are paid a proper wage, also B Corp certified organisations).
I would also prefer not to do business with people whose outlook is very much at odds with my own views - eg, there was a car dealer I decided not to buy from having seen first hand their appalling misogyny and racism.
It's got me thinking about whether or not I'd buy a horse from someone whose had these views...

In one post she is quite blasé about not minding if she lost a few followers because she's got so many thousands.

The thing with GPs though is that regardless of their personal political views, they don't share them with you at your appointments! If a GP expressed racist/bigoted/far right views to me I definitely would request to see someone else, actually! So her argument doesn't really wash 🤷‍♀️

They may not outwardly share them, but could absolutely sway by stealth how they felt about or approached certain things, especially women's health etc. You'd hope not, esepcially in the UK. Think we all know how religion infers with healthcare in the US as a comparison.

It’s difficult to know what is going on sometimes because mainstream media is controlled mostly by billionaires. I actually get wind of a lot of news and what’s happening especially in the USA through TikTok. People damn it but you do get a wider variety of information which is barely reported on the likes of the BBC although of course the algorithm will show you what it has worked out you’re interested in and appeals to one’s own biases. I’ll then Google to find further information to confirm whether it’s accurate or to get different views.

Painful though it sometimes (often) is we really need to not put our heads in the sand (at least not all the time) as it will eventually come back to bite and maybe we could have done something sooner.

Her content is very much coming across as rage-baiting for more clicks and views. Not just the political stuff but the controversial horse subjects beforehand.

It irks me when people get cocky about having 'so many followers' that they can post what they want and get away with it. Social media really goes to some people's heads.

There's a post today that seems to confirm this...she is going on holiday and has set a target for her mum (who is looking after the FB page) to 'keep our reach up on here and achieve at least one million views over five days.'

I really did enjoy following the horses' progress and I admired her for not hiding the fact that the Shire mare had CPL.
Some of the comments on posts were a bit daft and I can understand anyone being annoyed at the suggestion that the horses were being treated badly. But I didn't like it when she started telling people to **** off. Some of her followers, however, seemed to find it hilarious.

Yes, sadly, this is the way it's gone and I'm not going to follow the page any more. It doesn't matter that I'm a drop in the ocean, I come across enough contentious non-equine stuff elsewhere and I don't need more of it. I just want nice horsey content. Would I buy a horse from her? I wouldn't rule it out, but I'd rather not - and there are other good dealers out there. They may or may not have similar political views, I don't know - but they're not advertising their views in order to generate clicks.

The post that decided it for me was when she was talking about her children and said "And absolutely, I would rather trust their future in the hands of Tommy Robinson who has stood up against child sex trafficking and child exploitation…. Than the likes of kier Starmer who stood up for a prolific pedo!!!!"

Videos are £0.01-0.02 if memory serves me right. An old boss was fascinated by the paid for targeted side of FB. If you go full throttle with it (ie spend money to make money and specifically advertise) you can set your posts to literally appear for who you want to see them based on keywords, ages, gender

Agreed. Also, a GP visit could be the difference between life and death. You can't equate health with spending of disposable income.
 
Just saw this thread as been having a look at Trinas cobs in my search for a new companion. Like others I started to question the nature of some of the posts. There was a horse featured on her page called Lucky which she appeared to have sold to a young girl. There is a Facebook page for Lucky to update on their adventures which I followed out of interest. However it's been heartbreaking as within 4 days of arriving the horse was diagnosed with cancer. Trinas cobs are always posting in response to updates that he was fine with them although their over enthusiasm to point this out constantly suggests otherwise and regardless was obviously a pre existing issue. The young girl seems very polite and hasn't criticised Trinas cobs at all which is a credit to her as don't think I'd be so patient! Some of Trinas cobs comments on the horses page are so out of order suggesting it's wrong to look up the horses history and she needs to employ a trainer when it's obvious the horse is ill and behaviour is impacted by that. Trina is obviously hoping nothing is unearthed from it's past that would catch her out. Someone posted they hoped Trina has supported financially and again really defensive comments posted which suggested she had no intention of helping in any way apart from being patronising. Anyway upshot is poor girl seems to have fallen foul of a dealer with no moral compass. I'm definitely staying well away!
