Is it realistic to think your horsey dreams will ever come true. I wonder if money is the only thing that can help you achieve it. Does hard work and dedication really cut it?

How big or small are your dreams? I dream of riding a Grand Prix test one day, just one, I wonder if my dream will ever come true

Im nearly out of my teens now, i dont want to leave it too long, has time got in the way of anyone dreams?

Sorry for the this slightly random post, i just like to hope peoples dreams to come true or is doing a prelim at a local show centre as far as it can go

I understand what you mean. I think if you have the right horse etc and are dedicated enough then you can do anything, it depends what size your dream is!

My dream with my horses are to get them going nice, behaving well & competing at local level showing. That's it. It will be a lot of hard work with my 2 boys but it's definately achieveable. Doing a grand prix test on my fizzy fjord is another thing!

Good luck with your dream, I hope you achieve it :)

It's not impossible, and you are still in your teenage years - you've got aaages to achieve it :)

My dream is to stop riding everyone elses hunter types (beautiful but not my type) and finally buy my own horse - a big fat hairy coloured cob. I will parade him around like he's Red Rum and take him everywhere :D

Never had the time or money to own my own!

Thank you, i agree with you i have many dreams with my pony, qualify for trailbazer finals and hack out more, i suppose im just dreaming for the future

I hear you! My dream is to ride internationals. I've been out of my teens for a few years, so I'm hoping that won't go against me ;). I think you have to have dreams. My motto is reach for the stars. You might not get there but you will have a whale of a time!
Good luck Hun, keep true to your dream!

My dream is not achieveable- I wanted to jump a foxhunter on Koko, I really need to get over it tbh and man up a bit.

I think money can hold you back a lot. I know someone who is a fantastic rider and he has been for a good few years, but this last year he was recognised and was offered a ride on an event horse but he had to turn it down because they can't afford to compete as many times as the owners wanted. Sad really but I have no doubt he will make it big he really is good with horses :)

Had to laugh (kindly!) at this - I'm 40odd years older than you and still dreaming! Some have come true, some not - if there was anything I would change, I would find someone I really admired and go and work for them - for keep only if necessary - and learn all I can from them, before I had too many responsibilities.

And keep dreaming, there's always magic out there!

yep, after a bad fall last summer it was to canter along a beach again... managed it today after aquiring a new horse :D
New dream is to gallop along the beach :D
maybe then some xc schooling:D:D:D

Unfortunately LIFE gets in the way of dreams.

My dreams have changed over the years due to circumstances and what life has thrown at me.

My dream for kia my oldie is to still have him and him still being active (of sorts) after he is 25.

My dream for Eowyn was to do some high level showing but after her accident that dream has died :( Now I am hoping to do some eventing and see where that takes us. Would love to do a BE novice so that is my fream at the moment but it is fluent.

Nikki :)

"If you don't have a dream, how you going to have a dream come true"

As a little girl I dreamt of having my own pony one day, I finally achieved my dream and bought my first horse in my early twenties. Now a few (OK a lot) of years on, I have the two prettiest horses you could wish for. (Of course sometimes when it's really cold & wet I do have to remind myself of how much I do actually want to be a horse owner!).

My dream is to compete at prelim affiliated dressage and not disgrace ourselves..... on my 14.2 coloured native ;D

But she's 14, and it's taken me 6 years to get to winning the RC championship. sigh....

I also want to win a sash with her........ :D

I'm 48 tomorrow. When I was 14, I dreamed of riding at the Olympics (International Velvet had just been released :D) Dreams change according to circumstances - just make sure that you actually do HAVE a dream! :D

All I ever wanted ever ever was....... to do one tempi changes all the way around the school...........................................................................

I used to think I'd like to see my name mentioned three times at the Grand National - owned, trained and ridden and it was a different world of a race back in my youth! (Not necessarily being placed anywhere - just competiting would have been good enough.

Now, I wouldn't want to put a horse through it even if was really capable.

And ever since Neil Armstrong went to the Moon and put his thumb in the sky and covered the entire Earth - I rather think that World Peace might be a good idea but I also realise that this is very much a work in progress.

Its not all I've ever wanted but currently with The Welsh Cob I would LOVE to be able to ride one time tempi changes :) have started introducing changes but we're still at that front legs do one thing back legs do something different stage...he's so honest and trying I think he'll get it...one day

Awww, god bless yer all! How lovely to have cantered along the beach, I too dreamed of owning my own horse as a girl many years ago when very few people did. Also finally got one in my 20s and a thelwell shetland for my then 7yo daughter (shes 29 now with her own horses) Now I just dream of getting my horse of a lifetime back to fitness and doing everything I can with him.
Good luck to everyone in fulfilling those dreams :):):) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

PS a flying change would be nice too!!!! LOL x

Im going to jump round Badminton, I wanted to be the youngest to do it, but now at 21 thats long gone, but whether it be on my brothers quirky 'I hate to showjump ex eventer' or my 14.2hh PBA, working 3 jobs and doing a BSc aswell makes me want it even more. I know 50 yesr olds who still are aiming to jump round badders-its not impossible.
Money has a lot to do with it tbh, but Id rather do it off my own back than standing on my parents shoulders.
I also want to ride my home bred & broken, extremely difficult 14.2hh at PSG. She can canter pirouette, piaffe and half passage while schooling but insists on sitting down when shes fed up during a test ......

There are short-term dreams and long-term dreams. Short term I dream of qualifying one of my girls for regionals BD - prelim would do!!! In theory, achievable, but there are quite a few obstacles in the way! Long-term dream would be to get either Lilly, or her replacement if I sell her and get something bigger, as far as the horse can go. Her daddy competed internationally, and mum was pretty good too, with paces and trainable attitude passed on to her. So maybe - we'll see, if I can get the lessons and my body will do what it's told!

I dream that one of mine will stay sound, fit and healthy enough to compete! I've had over 3 years of my horses continuely managing to break and am beginning to think I'm cursed.

All I want is a safe RC horse to compete, it shouldn't be so hard :(

In the rare periods when they have been sound I've been too broke because of vets bills to compete them much

Sometimes hard work and dedication just isn't enough.

Talent and unlimited money are also needed as well as a good deal of luck.

My dream was to win at Novice BD on my cob, who is now sadly only able to hack lightly.

On the plus side I did manage to qualify for area championships showing this year, which was a huge thing for me.

to race taz round musselburgh race course for the musselburgh ladies race, at the end of the common ride on the saturday, have had the last three years to try but he always has either, not been right or has lost shoes on the last gallop towards home so has never been an option for us, may not happen this year, if the competiting all goes to plan

I have a short and long term dream for mine,

Short term: To be able to do walk/trot/canter in an outline, without any incosistancy
Long term: Affiliate BD and do premlim regionals etc, also to breed a healthy foal as my next dressage horse

Well done! xxx

So glad everyone else spends time pondering and dreaming about the future

tabithakat64- sorry you have been so un-lucky, maybe we should just be grateful for the mini achievements that occur everyday when riding horses. Makes you think we should all be thank full we have them.
